  • 21 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my last word is to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance. I know that the Kshs1 trillion Budget approved by this House is pegged on the taxation measures which were meant to come in the Finance Bill. In the event that those taxation measures are not approved by this House, I would urge the Minister for Finance to rationalize the Budget Votes and make sure that it is only the things that affect the common mwananchi that are prioritized and implemented. It should only be that. view

(a) My Ministry has recorded a total of six people reported to have been killed, while 11 people were injured by crocodiles and hippopotamus around Lake Turkana area from the year 2000 to date. The years and locations of the incidents as well as compensations paid by my Ministry to the victims or their next of kin are detailed in the table which the Questioner has. But I can summarize this. There are ten individuals whose next of kin have already been paid. One incident was referred back because the documentation supporting ... view
  • 8 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am concluding! Do not hurry me! In addition, we have authorized twin engines of 150 horse power both in Kalokol and Sibiloi to help patrol the lake. Finally, we have done some corporate social responsibility projects that support communities’ development. It may not be related to this, but we have pumped in close to Kshs1 million in partnership with the Constituencies Development Fund (CDF), Turkana Central to equip and renovate some schools in Kerio Division and Longech. view
  • 8 Dec 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I am always responsible for the accuracy of the information that I present in this House. When this Question was asked sometime in July we prepared an answer that was delivered to Parliament. But the additional supplementary information that I was giving out was answering the Question. At that particular time, there were only six cases whose processing was still being done for compensation. But so far, the information that we have got – and take this as the truth – is that, that has already been dispensed with and the money sent through the District ... view
