28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, we do not require a new law on this case. We will allow police officers from other divisions to be assisted by those who are on the ground in order for us to know where the truth lies.

28 Jul 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Speaker, Sir, there is no go-slow that I am aware of. In any case, the police officers are doing a wonderful job. As I speak here, criminal activities have gone down even in towns. I would like to inform my colleagues that, as a department, we will release even the General Service Unit (GSU) officers to patrol the streets of Nairobi and the estates in order to bring down criminal activities. So, as I speak here, there is no go-slow and my officers are doing a wonderful job.

The local community, through the Community Policing Initiative, raised funds in a bid to build two additional cells at Sultan Hamud Police Station but due to inadequacy of funds, they only managed to go up to lintel level leading to a stalled project. The Government has identified the stalled project for rehabilitation and evaluation has been done. A request for Kshs450, 000 has been made and it is awaiting approval upon which construction will commence immediately.

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the community contributed some funds through a funds drive. They used the same funds to extend and expand the cells. That particular amount could not be enough. So, they have requested the police, if they could be allocated some funds. We sent our people on site and a valuation report was done. It requires Kshs450, 000 in order to be completed. We are considering approval of that amount in order for us to complete the project.

Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, if the accounting officer from that particular department writes a letter to the police that they require some more money for the renovation of the police houses, we will consider it because we do not know how much they want.

22 Jul 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I clarified the issue this morning. I spoke to Ms. Karua with regard to the same and asked her to go through the HANSARD before she comes to this House. However, from her own statement, it seems she has not gone through the HANSARD. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I said very clearly that Chapter 102 of the Laws of Kenya bars anyone from compelling the President, who is the appointing authority, to release a report. I told Ms. Karua that the only thing she can do is to amend Chapter 102 of the Laws ...
