Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support this Report and commend the Departmental Committee on Lands for taking time to understand the situation in this particular settlement. I had a chance to visit this particular settlement, and a number of things are very clear. One, there is no reverse to the settlement in that area. Two, a lot of public and private investments have already been made in that area. Therefore, it is good that the Committee recommends that quick action be taken to settle the people who are already there. If that is not The electronic version of ...

done, we will definitely have conflicts in that particular settlement. This is an example of a delayed decision and action on the part of the Government. Things would have been done in an easier manner. If a quick decision would have been made when the settlement was started, we would not be in the situation we are in now of trying to know the owner of the land and trying to settle these people. The settlement will not be easy now because other people have come in. Therefore, to get the right people to settle will not be an easy ...

I hope and wish that our good Committee that has done a good job in coming up with this Report will move into similar schemes that show indicators of conflicts so that we can avoid loss of lives, resources and properties, both public and private investments of our Government using public resources.

I, therefore, urge that we all support this Report and ask the Departmental Committee on Lands to move onto the next case because there are many issues relating to land in the country which, if not sorted out will only result in loss of lives and property that can be prevented today.

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I stand to support that particular Petition. In this very House, we have had a number of Motions which suggest the same thing as the Petition. Therefore, I urge the Departmental Committee on Health to take that Petition seriously and consider it alongside other Motions relating to counsellors out there. Having early education on some of these psychological problems will help our society to grow in a healthier and better manner. That way, we will avoid some of the things that we are seeing in our society presently.

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to join the Leader of the Majority Party, who was our chairman, in thanking the mediation team for taking time to understand the real context of irrigation in this country. This particular Bill has taken more than a year since it left this House to the Senate, before the Senate brought their comments and amendments. This is an example of a Bill that has been delayed because of mishandling by the two Houses. From April last year, the Senate responded back to this House in May this year. And it took another two ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I would like to comment on the first Petition. The land in subject is one that has interest from two counties, that is, Embu and Kirinyaga counties. In addition to that, this is land that has attracted many conflicts and people have died as a result. Therefore, it is my wish that this Petition is not only handled by the Departmental Committee on Lands, but also by the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security. It should look into the security matters that surround that particular land.
