  • 6 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am standing in for our Chair, who is away on official duty. The 2018/2019 Budget Estimates were submitted and tabled in the National Assembly pursuant to Article 221 of the Constitution and Section 37 of Public Finance Management (PFM) Act, 2012. The Commission has, therefore, not been able to audit Government institutions with respect to compliance with the constitutional requirements on gender due to lack of funds. The State Department of the Development of ASALs has not been adequately financed to carry out activities towards enhancing resilience against drought among communities in ASAL counties. The State Department needs enhanced resources to enable it to move to the relief of affected residents. • 11 Apr 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I know that time has run out. I must congratulate the Mover of the Motion, Hon. Cate, for bringing this wonderful Motion. In Bomet, we have throat cancer which is caused by selenium soil. I request Hon. Cate that as we also support the Motion, let us also use the statistics that have been collected and urge the Government to provide patients with selenium diet supplements. There are issues of greenhouses and pesticides, which have also been… view
  • 28 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I am a Member of this Committee and I want to commend the wonderful job the Committee has done together with the Office of the Clerk. I am lucky to have been in the Committee that vetted the said nominee. The Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare is vested with a lot of activities ranging from children’s welfare, issues of trade unions and employees. The nominee for gender, Madam Kwekwe, is qualified having worked in the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) and having worked as a County Executive Committee (CEC) member in Kwale ... view
  • 26 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I do not belong to the Kenya African National Union (KANU) Party. I belong to the Jubilee Coalition. I support the Motion by the Leader of the Majority Party on the issue of urgent national importance. We have had many problems since 8th August 2017. We had the general elections, and most of us won. After the nullification of the presidential election, the NASA Coalition demanded that officers at the IEBC should be reshuffled yet the Members of this House had their elections conducted by the same IEBC. The elections were conducted by the IEBC, but the NASA ... view
  • 26 Sep 2017 in National Assembly: The date for the presidential election has been set and I want to remind this country that we are going to use taxpayers’ money for the re-election. That money was supposed to be used for development. They have not raised any legal issues pertaining the set date of 26th October 2017. They have kept on shifting goal posts and raising many baseless issues to the extent that they are now trying to threaten the security of this country. Enough is enough! We have a Government in place and whether they are willing to go for the election or not, we ... view
