  • 26 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Much obliged, hon. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 20 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I stand to support this Motion as amended. Before I do that, I would like to thank hon. Ng’ongo for his wisdom and keenness for details; he was able to point out to us that there was an error, or problem in the Motion as it was presented initially. Further to that, I would like to say that the CDF, as it has been said before, has done a lot of work and has proved that the people on the ground know what their priorities are. They also know at what time they would like ... view
  • 20 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I am a pedigree child of two teachers. What is happening in the teaching fraternity right now, and what has happened before, is wrong. Teachers were promised that they were going to be paid their money and it has taken so many years for this to happen. I would like to urge the Chairman of the Budget and Appropriations Committee to ensure that by the time we are through with this debate, the affairs of teachers have been taken into consideration, so that we solve their problem once and for all, and we do not have strikes ... view

  • 23 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. I rise under Standing Order No.84 to make a Personal Statement. It is in connection with allegations reported by a section of the media that I intend to resign as Member of Parliament on matters related to remuneration. view
  • 23 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, from the outset let me remind those making the allegations that I was overwhelmingly elected by the great people of Kiambu to represent them in the National Assembly. I am on record thanking the voters for the show of confidence in me. I took oath of office and swore to uphold the interests of the people of Kiambu and Kenya at large. I recognize my duties and responsibilities in my capacity as Member of Parliament, and I will continue to serve in this capacity till the next general election and beyond, God willing. Hon. Speaker, Sir, it ... view
  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I beg to give notice of the following Motion:- THAT, aware that the Industrial Training Act, 2007 provides for deduction and submission of levy from each employee by the employer to the Industrial Training Levy Fund to facilitate the training of persons involved in the industry; concerned with the increasing high number of apprentices engaging in drugs and alcohol abuse after programmes due to lack of employment; noting further that the youth continue to have limited access to training and employment opportunities, this House urges the Government to enforce compliance with Article 55 of the Constitution and ... view

  • 8 May 2013 in National Assembly: My name is Jude Njomo. I am the Member for the new Kiambu Constituency which has been carved out of Kiambaa Constituency. Hon. Speaker, Sir, how I have longed to say those words! The people of Kiambu have also longed to hear those words. They have not been represented by very vocal Members. They have wished that they hear their Member of Parliament speak in Parliament. This being my maiden speech, I would like to thank God and the people of Kiambu for finding me worthy to represent them in this august House. At the same time, I would like ... view
  • 8 May 2013 in National Assembly: Security is now improved. Before I support this Bill, I would like to mention one or two things now that this is my maiden speech. When the name “Kiambu” is mentioned, many people think of one of the richest counties in the country. On the contrary, many people in Kiambu live in abject poverty. There are many people in Kiambu who use jerry cans and mitungi to fetch water. People in Ting’ang’a, Kagongo, Ngaita, Ngegu and so on are suffering from serious lack of water. I have the heavy task of ensuring that these areas are provided with water either ... view
