  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to add my voice to the sentiments expressed by my colleagues. On the outset I wish to congratulate hon. (Dr.) Ottichilo for bringing this Motion in this House and join my colleagues in saying nuclear energy is not the direction to take at this point in time. The scientific and technological advancements have been good for the human race but nuclear advancement has so many disadvantages that outweigh the advantages it give us in terms of energy, medical application and the rest. I want to say that this country and indeed the ... view

  • 18 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: If you watch National Geographic, there is so much scientific advancement that you get from national geographic and other science based on television. If you walk along the streets, you generate so much power such that if panels were established below where people are walking then you are able to generate power and tap that power for use instead of it going to waste. I want to confirm that. I was talking about the Kalashnikov rifle; the AK 47. We celebrated its discovery some 50 years ago but today, we regret because the Kalashnikov is responsible for global insecurity, not ... view

On behalf of the people of Sigowet/Soin Constituency - the people I represent in this Parliament - I wish to join you, my colleagues and, indeed, the people of Kenya in mourning the demise of the late George Muchai. Hon. Speaker, let me mention that hon. Muchai discharged his responsibilities in the trade union movement of this country to the standards required. He also performed his roles in Parliament with a lot of decorum. We admire him for that. We want to urge the security agencies in this country to make our country more secure not ... view

  • 10 Dec 2014 in National Assembly: That is okay, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I wish to say that it is an important development in this country. The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) is such an important institution that we cannot leave it in abeyance. We have to give it a chance to discharge its responsibilities. I support. view
  • 26 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I want to join my colleagues in saying that I am opposed to this amendment. Bringing on board the county public service boards and county assembly service boards is not necessary since we are dealing with a constitutional matter. Even if we were to bring them on board, paragraph (b) of the proposed amendment to Clause 2 talks of the population of an ethnic group relative to the national population size. In this case, we would have to bring on board a population related to the population of the county. I am opposed to the two ... view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity to add my voice to this important Bill which I support. In addition to what my colleagues have said, I would like to just mention five points. First, Kenya is still an agricultural country. We depend on agriculture currently and we will do so in future. While we are dependent on agriculture, we must change focus so that increasingly, we practise conservation agriculture for the sake of conserving the environment. There is a tree which is of important economic sense to our country, namely the eucalyptus tree. However, we ... view
