is an issue that requires a lot of consultations. I think we should be given between four and five weeks to sit with organizations concerned because long-term solutions require detailed appraisal.

Yes, hon. Speaker. Perhaps, the quick advice that one would give is instead of--- The matter is properly before the House and directed to the relevant committee. Perhaps, we can liaise with the Member; go to the Department Committee on Agriculture and consult the relevant agency on emergency intervention, so that we can have a quick solution, rather than subjecting ourselves to detailed committee meetings that will be very bureaucratic. I volunteer tomorrow, the first thing in the morning to liaise with the committee leadership. Tomorrow morning, we can take the Member to the concerned department and seek quick intervention; ...

Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support the Motion by my great friend, hon. Nyamai. Consolidation of a database is very important for this country, particularly in order to screen it. It will enable us to have a database that is reliable and predictable. I would urge my colleagues that when this process is initiated, we need to gather courage, as a nation, and particularly the leadership of this country. In some areas, there is a lot of mis-match. During the census, there were a lot of disagreements. But when it came to the registration of voters, we did ...

Deputy Speaker, I rise under Standing Order 40(3), which reads as follows:- “(40)(3) On Wednesday morning, a Bill or a motion not sponsored by the Majority or Minority Party or a member belonging to the Majority or Minority Party or by a Committee, shall have precedence over all other business in such order as the House Business Committee shall ballot.” Hon. Deputy Speaker, clearly, listening to the sentiments of the Departmental Committee in charge of transport, there appears to be some confusion as to whether the House Business Committee met or not. By precedence and history, Wednesday mornings are ...

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker and hon. Kajuju for your natural generosity. As a young man straight from the university, my first savings were with the Kenya Finance Bank. Just two weeks after I and two other friends deposited Kshs7,000, the bank collapsed. Retracing my money was very difficult and to date as I stand here almost 20 years later, that money has never been located. Imagine Kshs7,000 being savings of a young person straight from university. It is a painful experience and, therefore, cushioning depositors, particularly the small depositors who have no influence and even the financial sector ...

We have had experiences where companies collapse but a few weeks preceding the collapse, because of the business cartels and financial sector networks, we have seen major depositors rushing to withdraw their huge savings within these companies, be they banks or blue chip banks and this has facilitated even the quick collapse of such institutions. Some of them are institutions where the Government has a stake. These are individuals we see now rolling out their quick ill gotten wealth to accumulate even greater influence, including the influence to shape and control the political networks and thereafter even the policies of ...

These schemes have collapsed careers. They have even caused people to die because they cannot afford simple medicine in their retirement, because they are out of business or their savings have been depleted and cannot afford minimum livelihoods. Therefore, I support these amendments. They have come at the right time particularly when we are saying that young people must save more.
