  • 29 Jan 2020 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. You ruled yesterday that the lawyers of the Governor will make their application for preliminary objection together with their substantive response to the charges which denied them the opportunity to make the preliminary objection before the county assembly makes its case. That prejudiced the Governor from succeeding in this House later to bring evidence because this House says that as a result of the ruling yesterday, there cannot be other evidence because the County Assembly of Kiambu has closed its case. There is no evidence that is admitted as per your ruling. ... view

  • 29 Jan 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in my stay in this House for two terms – they may not be as many years as Sen. Khaniri’s – I have not seen anybody question any mover of a Motion on raising issues that could determine the decision to be made on that Motion. Secondly, I have moved many Motions in this House that come from the National Assembly by virtue of my office. We do not agree with some of the Motions as a House. While moving a Motion, I make it clear that the House should make a determination at the end. So, ... view

  • 29 Jan 2020 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, based on the submissions of the county assembly, this House will vote on the three issues on an account of whether the county assembly met the constitutional threshold when they impeached the governor. If they never met that threshold, then by virtue of lacking the relevant jurisdiction of the House, there will be no ability for us to investigate the veracity of the issues therein; whether there was gross violation of the Constitution or corruption. Secondly, for us to put weight on the evidence and the documents submitted by the county assembly, this House will make a ... view
