  • 15 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, Eldoret Stadium should have been one of the best stadia in this country. I am very happy to report here about Nandi County. Eliud Kipchoge is working with Governor Sang’ who was the Senator here, on how to improve Kipchoge Stadium in Nandi County. It is a fantastic thing because I saw Governor Sang and spoke with him. He met with some of the sponsors, including the INEOS sponsor, Mr. Ratfcliffe. view
  • 15 Oct 2019 in Senate: The reality is that even though the Government is expected to build these Stadia across the country, it is the private sector that owns many of the stadia all over the world. Why should we have big companies like Safaricom, Kenya Power, Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN) and so forth, and none of them is willing to invest in sports facilities? We want sports facilities for playing tennis, basketball and all other sports, so that we can support all other disciplines of sports in this country. I believe that if the private sector will be part and parcel of this ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to lay the following Paper on the Table of the Senate, today Wednesday 9th, October, 2019- The Public Finance Management (Parliamentary Catering Fund) Regulations, 2019. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Hon. Senators, pursuant to Standing Order No.52(1), I hereby present to the Senate, the business of the House for the week commencing Tuesday, 15th October, 2019. Hon. Senators, on Tuesday, 15th October, 2019, the Senate Business Committee (SBC) will meet to schedule the business of the Senate for the week. Subject to further directions by the Committee, on Tuesday, 15th October, 2019, the Senate will consider Bills due for Second Reading and Bills at the Committee of the Whole stage. The Senate will also continue with the consideration of business that will not have been concluded in today’s Order Paper. ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, expediting these reports will enrich debate at the Second Reading stage and facilitate the House to effectively navigate the Committee of the Whole stage. Further, we have quite a number of Petitions and Statements referred to the Standing Committees. I note that several Committees have tabled reports on Petitions and Statements which is commendable. I urge Standing Committees to stay the course and conclude with the consideration of outstanding business before them. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you and hereby lay the Statement on the Table of the Senate. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, considering the seriousness of the Statement by the Deputy Senate Minority Leader, is it possible that the Committee will not just exercise discretion, but come back to this House with a proper Motion on how we can address this issue? We, as the Senate, cannot continue burying our heads in the sand when this country is slowly sliding into economic depression and unemployment of a magnitude that is unprecedented. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, being the politicians we are in this country, we are confronted with so many Curriculum Vitae (CVs) across the country of Kenyans looking ... view
  • 9 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is a bipartisan issue. If the Committee can lead us, let us not fold our hands like other institutions and say that we will not do anything. They can come up with a process that will involve all of us to give our suggestions and present a report to the national Government and counties on how we will grow this economy. view
  • 8 Oct 2019 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
  • 8 Oct 2019 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, is it in order for the Senator for Bungoma County to insinuate that cheering the Deputy Speaker is wrong? More importantly, is Sen. Wetangula in order to express acts of envy because one Senator of this House has been cheered? It has nothing to do with whether it is in this House or not. Further, is Sen. Wetangula in order to insinuate that the Deputy Speaker is not always here when he has been chairing sessions in the presence of all of us? view
