  • 26 Oct 2022 in Senate: I forgot to thank the staff, the Secretariat, led by the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Nyegenye and the entire team. They are some of the best public servants we have in this country. Without their support, I would not have done anything as a Senator, Deputy Majority Leader and the Senate Majority Leader. I thank all the staff, they have been extremely kind to me in drafting Bills, reports, letters and everything that I have wanted to be done for me. I ask the Senators here to utilize the services of our most knowledgeable secretariat. Last, I thank the ... view

  • 13 Oct 2022 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as has been the tradition in this House, one or two Members are given the opportunity to ride on a Statement given by a Member. The Senator for Kitui County has brought a very important Statement. It is instructive to note that this House carried out a very serious investigation on this same matter in the last Parliament. The then Chairperson of the Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, Sen. Sakaja, now Governor of Nairobi City County, even visited Saudi Arabia with his Committee to investigate this matter. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, as you allocate this ... view

  • 13 Oct 2022 in Senate: The questions we should ask ourselves are; what is the role of our embassy there in terms of tracking all citizens and what is the role of the agencies that we send. Lastly, what will be the role of the Senate Committee that will be seized of this matter? It should not be a one-off thing. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, even as we were discussing about the abuse of Kenyans in Saudi Arabia, on the same day a lady who had been rescued from that country was coming, there was a huge contingent of young people going to Saudi Arabia. ... view
  • 6 Oct 2022 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak on the important Speech of the President, which is our constitutional dictate. The President gave a brief Speech. I have been here for the past 10 years. Presidential speeches of this nature, such as opening of Parliament or State of the Nation Address, have always been done for almost one or one-and-a-half hours. The points were targeted and the President was certain in what he presented. He was also clear in his thoughts about what he wants to do for this Republic. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, ... view
