  • 6 Mar 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, under Standing Order No.105, is it in order for the Senator for Bungoma to allege that the hon. Cabinet Secretary for Roads and Transport is stealing and enjoying public resources in his office. Does he have evidence? view
  • 6 Mar 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to contribute to this. First, I join my colleagues in saying that it is not in order for Cabinet Secretaries to abstain from answering questions in this House. The purpose of this session was to make sure that the general public of the Republic of Kenya is able to get direct answers to their issues from the people responsible at the policy level, at the national and county governments. When Cabinet Secretaries fail to attend these sessions, they not only fail the Senate and Parliament, but also the people of Kenya. That ... view
  • 6 Mar 2024 in Senate: holders of the office. This will enable the people of Kenya to refer to the questions and answers the Cabinet Secretaries gave when they visit various parts of this country. This evasion of Cabinet Secretaries from appearing not only in this session, but even before Committees of Parliament, must be firmly dealt with. I concur with my colleagues that we must invoke the necessary powers of this House to make sure the attendance is observed. Mr. Speaker, Sir, this House was very expectant for the Cabinet Secretary for Gender, Culture, the Arts and Heritage, to address the matter of gender ... view

  • 29 Feb 2024 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, the hon. Member has cited percentages of particular communities. I would like to know whether that is authentic data and that she can produce evidence. As far as I am concerned, we are not 15 per cent in Nairobi. In fact, we are among the marginalized in Nairobi. view
  • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation. At least, you have been consistent in appearing in the House. In your responses to the Question by Sen. Murango, you indicated that you are expecting some funds that will be shared amongst the water agencies. Exactly how much money is going to each water agency so that we can see whether there is equity in the distribution of the resources to several parts of Kenya? Mr. Speaker, Sir, in his response, he also said that he has savings from the Kenya Towns Sustainable Water Supply and Sanitation Program (KTSWSSP). The ... view
  • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: It is just one question with different words. Just allow me 30 seconds to finalise on that one. Cabinet Secretary, let us know whether the savings you are talking about is part of what is meant for Kipkaren Dam. If it is, then that money is not savings, it is supposed to complete that project and the Two Rivers Dam now that Eldoret is going to become a city and water is a serious requirement. Thank you. view
  • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to comment on the Report of the Committee on Energy regarding electricity. I rise to support that Report and thank the Senator for Nyeri and Chairperson of the Committee, Sen. Wamatinga, and his team for the good work they have done. The cost of electricity in this country has been an impediment towards achievement of industrialization as a nation as it is one of the cost factors that drive the cost of production high. Therefore, if we have to address the cost of living in the country, we must address the cost ... view
  • 28 Feb 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I have even lost my train of thought because of that interruption. view
