  • 11 Oct 2023 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, thank you, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Digital Health Bill. First and foremost, I thank my Members of the Committee of Health, and stakeholders who were engaged extensively in this Bill, for adopting and passing it. This nation is preparing to roll out the Universal Health Coverage (UHC). It is a program that has been on the desk of this Country for the last almost twenty years. However, we have not succeeded as a nation. I attribute past failures to a lack of consultations and engaging stakeholders; bringing on board the stakeholders ... view

  • 11 Oct 2023 in Senate: seamless integration of services from both county and national governments. We know very well that referral hospitals are a function of national Government and the other hospitals are a function of counties but if there is digital provision, there is going to be seamless interaction between the facilities at the county and national levels. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, this is what may provide an efficient referral platform for patients and we may not need to refer patients using an ambulance, transporting a critical patient all the way from West Pokot to Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) or the Moi Teaching and ... view
  • 5 Oct 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to welcome my County Delegation, led by the Governor. I am the most fortunate Senator to serve in this term and that my Governor is in the Gallery. Yesterday, we were debating the County Governments Additional Allocations Bill and I want to let them know that the Senate has added an additional of over Kshs1 billion to go and improve services in my home County. • 5 Oct 2023 in Senate: readiness of Eldoret becoming a city. The people of Uasin Gishu are eagerly waiting for the conferment of Eldoret as a city. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, when you went there during the Devolution Conference, you became aware that Eldoret is indeed ready to become the fifth city of this country. As it gets conferred to a city status, it should also be known that it is the fastest growing town and will become the fastest growing city in Kenya and has the potential to become the biggest city in this country. We say that because we are privileged as a ... view

  • 4 Oct 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, my point of order is on Standing Order No.105. I would like Sen. Chimera to tell this House how a girlfriend definition in politics comes in. There is a tendency that when people arrive in this House, they begin to accuse other women of being girlfriends and so forth, but during campaigns, the services of those girlfriends are highly sought. Can Sen. Chimera substantiate the statement? view
  • 4 Oct 2023 in Senate: Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker. First, let me take this opportunity to thank the Cabinets Secretary for appearing before this Committee. I had comments regarding the Cabinet Secretary, Hon. Ababu Namwamba, following the comments of the Senator for Bungoma, but since Madam Temporary Speaker you ruled, let me not speak on the matter. I would like to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Defence, in his response under counselling and psychological support, his response No. 2 was that they have centres that view
