1 Mar 2023 in Senate:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. With a very heavy heart today, I cry for the Rendille. First, let me thank Sen. Chute for bringing this Statement that made me come back to this House this afternoon. Every day when one community attacks another community and the Government keeps quiet or does not do anything, it begs the question whether we should really be proud of ourselves as one country called Kenya. About three months ago, one of my staffers, his name is Wambas Oleman, called me in the middle of the night crying saying that the Gabra invaded his home, ...

1 Mar 2023 in Senate:
Madam Temporary Speaker, if history serves me right - the distinguished Senator for Marsabit County will correct me - this area of attack is next to an area which is used by the military for training. If you have gone to Marsabit, and you drive from Marsabit Town, pass the town called Hula Hula and come down, before you go to Kargi, right next, there is an area where the Rendille and the Samburu use for their cultural ceremonies. I have attended these ceremonies so I speak with authority. I know the area and it is a tough terrain. During ...

1 Mar 2023 in Senate:
The issue of bandits and cattle rustling is one which the system understands. They know. I have always been of the view, and which I still hold strongly, that this is a huge enterprise. Two weeks ago my staff were in North Horr by bus to donate food to people. They were crying because they could not understand how people can live there. There is no ...

1 Mar 2023 in Senate:
Madam Temporary Speaker, I will be happy to wind up. I was waiting to see the red light. I did not know how much time we had to comment on this. I know yesterday we discussed about sticking to the Standing Orders. The reason I am contributing more is because I am guided by the Standing Orders. They give us enough time to contribute.

1 Mar 2023 in Senate:
I summarize by stating that the lives of the Rendille children matter. It is about time that this Government - if at all we have one - forgets about the differences and move there. I hope this is going to be referred to the Standing Committee on National Security and Foreign Relations. My good friend from Kisumu County is in that Committee. I hope that you move fast and have the military go there. This is a situation where the military has to go there. We have this habit of sending the military without Parliament’s approval. Since we have already ...

Gambia is similar to my county of Narok, where there are lots of wildlife. I know tourism is one of your main foreign income earners. I want to encourage them, while here, to visit Narok County, the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. Hopefully, you will get a chance to see sister leopards like the ones from Gambia.
