The issue of the National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is something which is going to be the biggest cancer in this society. Many Kenyans are trooping into hospitals with their NHIF card, having paid the NHIF contributions, but they are sent back home without being given services. So it begs the question, that we are all so eager to pass a new Health Act or SHIF Fund, which is supposed to pay for medical services for these Kenyans. What will happen to these hospitals, which are supposed to provide services, when you now go into the hospital with a new card of SHIF and that hospital is owed over a billion by NHIF?
