However, after saying that the one dealing with the Deputy President and Deputy Governor can only go to a referendum. Although, it is a good suggestion to this House, probably, it will also be forwarded to the Committee dealing with the bi-partisan issues. It is one of the sensitive issues because from the case of Governor Sonko; the former Governor of Nairobi, immediately there was a vacancy, there was a very big problem. Filling ... view

  • 20 Sep 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I have been following the proceedings from elsewhere and there is a burning issue I would like to ask my colleague from the National Assembly. She used to be my colleague in the Ministry. Recently, in the Ad Hoc Committee set up by this House to inquire into the 1998 bombing of the USA embassy in Kenya, we summoned the PWDs. They explained that they were totally unable to accommodate most people who became disabled out of the bombing due to low finances. From the Minister, I want to know, there being a lot of complaints on ... view

Enough research has not been done and the problem was not certain. I want to move a little bit from the way we have done this morning and do it by example. When I was in Lower Primary School, I boarded a bus and the tout was smoking and I could smell the smoke. I found it so nice and thought it was very cool. I told myself that when I grow up, I will ... view

How do we deal with that? We will need a law. Right now, we do not have a law dealing with that. A lot of products contain nicotine. ... view

  • 31 Aug 2023 in Senate: rains which are usually very destructive and later on, have many dry spells. We have seen what has happened to other parts of the world like tornadoes and snowfalls, which also cause destruction to what is already existing. Mr. Speaker, Sir, environmental law is both local and international and is one of the things that tie the world. We have come up with new systems to increase carbon credits. This did not exist in our law. However, the most important thing is the most The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of ... view
  • 31 Aug 2023 in Senate: basic. We have cut trees for development and timber and yet we do not have forests in every part of the country. We have natural forests in the coastal region because of the rains caused by ocean currents and other forests in the highlands. In the middle, we have a lot of dryland. It is important that universities come up with research in order for us to know what trees can survive in the drylands so that we have a lot of trees there and reduce the speed of wind. Then we will end up having more rainfall as it ... view
