  • 17 Oct 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. This question would have gone to Governor James Orengo. However, since he said that his client, the National Assembly had given him instructions, I would like them to tell me the relevance of the verse they read yesterday. Also, on the Floor of the National Assembly, they read a verse that says: “When bad leaders rule, badness increases in a country and when good leaders rule, goodness increases in a country.” Finally, what is the maximum number of companies that an individual can participate in under the law? view
  • 9 Oct 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. As I ask a question in relation to Sen. Sifuna's matter, I have good news for the Prime Cabinet Secretary from his office, that recently a Catholic sister from my village who is working in Argentina sought for help in processing of her good conduct. I advised her on phone to get in touch with the Ministry online. I want to surprise the Prime Cabinet Secretary that within two days, everything had been processed and she was employed in Argentina. That shows that somebody in the legal department is doing something good in your Ministry. ... view
  • 1 Oct 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I would like to comment on Sen. Cherarkey’s Statement. There are a number of ghost workers in many counties and if memory serves us right, recently, the Governor of Kisii, Hon. Arati, took stock of them, starting with the drivers. There were a number of employed drivers who did not even have a vehicle to drive. It is important to audit every single county, bearing in mind that this problem started from the county councils, so that we do not have ghost workers in our counties and also for the money going to the counties ... view
  • 26 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I take the opportunity to welcome the delegation from Makueni County Assembly and also MPs from various countries of Africa. I welcome and wish them well in Kenya. We are doing very well when it comes to matters dealing with climate change. I am sure you will learn a lot more during your stay here. I have been to quite a number of their countries, such as the Congo, where I usually represent this House in the prayer breakfast. I wish them a good stay here in Kenya and hope to interact and share more ... view
  • 26 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I would like to comment on the statement by the Senator for Nakuru County. When the last extraordinary rains happened, there was chaos in many parts of the country; Tana River, Makueni, and now even the case in Nakuru. This water was amassed due to the construction of the railway. Eventually, having been blocked by something, it eased off and killed many people. Despite all that, the disaster management was chaotic. Up to now, the county government, which has an allocation of monies has not resettled these people and has not taken care of them ... view
  • 26 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I congratulate Sen. Mariam Omar for what she has done. However, I want to bring to her attention that there is the Cooperatives Bill, 2024, being debated in the National Assembly, which is a much older Bill because it was there in 2021. This time round it is published by hon. Ichungwa. Those days it had been published by the then Leader of Majority. It lapsed because Parliament had come to an end. When I look at the two Bills, I believe hon. Ichungwa and hon. Mariam Omar should have a word, so that one ... view
  • 26 Sep 2024 in Senate: with tea in the country. We need solutions, especially where the farmers are organized in cooperatives. I am pleading with Sen. Mariam Omar to liaise with hon. Ichungwa. I believe she will reply today. After she replies, a question will be put and we will go to Third Reading. During the Third Reading, she should have a meeting with hon. Ichungwa so that we can put our heads together. This will make sure Kenyans are served better by a better law, bearing in mind that cooperatives are a very important part of our identical system. Madam Temporary Speaker, I want ... view
  • 25 Sep 2024 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I take this opportunity to congratulate hon. Muturi, former Speaker of the National Assembly, for the appointment as a Cabinet Secretary. I will go on to ask a question about PWDs at Huduma Centres. There has been a concern that not many of them have been hired, and if any, they work at the back office. What will you do to make sure that PWDs are well represented, taken care of and participate in nation-building by working at Huduma Centres? view
  • 25 Sep 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I would like to comment on Hon. Sen. Wakili Sigei's Statement about handling police, demonstrators, and others. Our Constitution is clear as to how to handle any suspect in the country. That if you are suspected of any crime, you should be taken to court within 24 hours if one has been arrested. That has not happened. There is nowhere in our law where abductions are a way of dealing with anyone or any extrajudicial matter, whether killing or keeping anyone in confinement, without the courts being aware. That is why a habeas corpus, at ... view
  • 25 Sep 2024 in Senate: Secondly, on the statement by Sen. Okenyuri about the university doctor, a student also who passed on in circumstances, which were suspected to be suicide. The doctors have been demonstrating in the streets, particularly about interns. Nothing much was done about it, which is one of the results. The health sector needs to look at the issue of interns. This is because interns are already doctors and have been in the university for seven years, so we do not have cases of frustration under investigations like those about that particular person. Thank you. view
