  • 19 Apr 2023 in Senate: is an error, correct it and have our country move on. I believe if we go in that spirit, we will build a strong nation and raise enough money to develop counties. Honestly, development can take place in the counties. Although counties have not performed to the expectations, Kenyans have seen a difference. Kenyans have seen that counties have brought services which were not there before. Roads which had never been done since Independence have been done; services which had never been delivered to the people, especially health, have been delivered. Finally, Mr. Speaker, Sir, we need to fully devolve ... view
  • 18 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise to support the request of Statement by Sen. Chute. I wish to state that the era of climate change is already with us. The world has become a global village and carbon credits have operated without much information to citizens and legislators like us. This is good because it motivates us to plant many trees. We are very lucky that rains are all over the country and it is time to plant more trees. If there are any benefits from the carbon credits, Kenyans should know. When they are motivated to work hard ... view

  • 18 Apr 2023 in Senate: murdered on the streets or killed accidentally from Thika Road, on the way to Machakos or as far as Kitengela and Ngong Hills, end up converging at the City mortuary, especially when they are unknown. Many times, the morgue is overwhelmed and some of these bodies are in terrible conditions and already decomposing. You go there and you are met by an unpleasant smell. For us to serve Kenyans better and give respect to the departed, that is a facility that has to be taken care of with immediate effect, so that we can improve on it. I am surprised ... view
  • 13 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Statement sought is very important for information to the country and to the House as authorized by Article 35 of the Constitution; the right to information. When such information is brought to this House, it should also be dispensed to the public so that people with queries can be answered. I believe that is very much in order. It would be good for the nation to know exactly whether there are improvements or none. The country operates as a big circle where we all pay our taxes. When that goes to the National Treasury ... view

  • 13 Apr 2023 in Senate: Bearing in mind that a financial year starts in June and ends in June, we are still within the financial year. We are also aware that the budget which is now running is of a previous regime and obviously, collection of taxes goes on throughout irrespective of the Government in power. It is the right of the stakeholders, Kenyans, who pay these taxes in all forms; fuel levies or whatever, even when you buy a sweet, there is a tax, to know exactly where we are and whether we are paying our debts and how much we have done so ... view
  • 12 Apr 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, I am very delighted to support this Bill brought by Sen. Mungatana, MGH. Human dignity is one of the very important essentials in our Constitution. That particular issue of preservation of human dignity and enforcement of economic and social rights Bill under the Constitution, a lot of legislation has to be enacted to effect some of those provisions of several things given in the Bill of Rights. One of it, is to treat human beings with dignity. Part of the socio-economic bit of it is to make sure that people have provision of water, health, and ... view

  • 12 Apr 2023 in Senate: that legislation will be made so that it can be brought to effect. Human dignity runs from so many things from land rights to so many other activities. It goes to so many other activities such that you can deal with quite a number of issues, which have not been implemented. On the issue of historical injustices, there have been commissions dealing with one thing or another, conclusions made, but there has been no implementation at all. If there is historical injustice whereby the Government needed to compensate, you find that, that compensation has not taken effect. When it comes ... view
