  • 17 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: country. I do not understand why we are protecting and securing Somalia. I really do not understand. The KDF are unable to secure Mandera. More than 100 people; locals, teachers, nurses and police officers have passed on in the name of terrorism attacks and there they are in Kismayu protecting Somalia. I think there is business going on and I do not even see why Mr. Karangi’s contract has to be extended. He does not add value; neither do the KDF officers. Ethiopia borders Somalia but have you ever heard of any terrorist attack? Nothing! It is just that our ... view

  • 25 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: to send my condolences to the family and friends of the 28 Kenyans who suffered in the massacre. I must say I was also affected because the 28 Kenyans who died in my county were a big asset. They were teachers who gave education to our children. They were health workers who would facilitate health programmes and health facilities for my people. I really feel bad as much as every Kenyan people today. I condemn this act that has been done by hooligans and criminals. “Islam” means peace. I want to tell Kenyans that Muslims and Christians have lived together ... view
  • 18 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to support this Motion. I am wondering why up to now the criminals have not yet been arrested. It is unfortunate. Where are the policemen? I heard the Inspector-General saying that the girl should report the matter. After watching that clip, who can dare go to the police? If she could have gone to the police station, I am sure those policemen would have asked her, “ wewe mama, by the time you were walking like that---” They would have traumatized her even more. Hon. Temporary Deputy ... view
  • 22 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I must say that I am not supporting this Motion because I feel that the country has created enough funds for the marginalized groups such as women and the youth. I would like to say that for the past many years in this country, opportunities have been given to men. If they have not utilized them well because of not being responsible, it is up to them to be given capacity-training on how to manage their skills and businesses. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, women and youth are the ones ... view
  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I want to seek clarification as to why an Act was passed in this august House in 2011, but it is not applied. I must say that we have to address this problem in another way, or through other strategies. I know it is mostly practised in the northern part of Kenya, Maasai land and also in Kisii. It is very disadvantageous. The Leader of the Majority Party must come up with other ways of dealing with this issue, because it is really primitive and has a lot of disadvantages; ... view

  • 16 May 2013 in National Assembly: Let me begin by thanking our Leader of Majority Party for bringing here the debate on insecurity. As a person from Mandera County, I visited the constituency and the situation was really bad. What has happened to the morale of our policewomen? Why are they not working well? Even if we spend Kshs4 billion to buy equipment and the officers are not motivated and appreciated, we will not achieve much. You can even buy the best equipment or nuclear equipment, but if the officers are not appreciated nothing will happen. The security situation is pathetic because you can see old ... view
  • 16 May 2013 in National Assembly: The other day when there were activists around Parliament, you could see a police officer try his best. He was roughed up by five people while the one just behind him was trying to capture the pigs. That is bad behaviour. However, they talked about police harassing people when a policeman took a rungu and started beating them up. I think the police are demoralized. They feel that people do not value them even if they do something. It is high time we appreciated the integral importance of our armed forces, such as the military police, our Administration Police officers ... view
