  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. First and foremost, I would like to thank the Heads of State who met and passed this. My concern, however, is that after one year now, the technocrats in Government never took time to meet and bring this up for debate. This is an important issue which has come in time. Members have expressed concern. Even if you pass this Motion today, remember that there are bodies that have been proposed to be entrusted with responsibility of sorting out the issues that we have raised here. We have monetary institutes that ... view
  • 29 Oct 2014 in National Assembly: use the buses to travel as they trade and you will understand the situation. These people have to be checked at the border points and also pay money to the customs officers. If we adopt a common currency then all those barriers will be removed. By having one common currency we shall save in terms of foreign exchange. At the moment, as we export and import things from Uganda, the Kenyan Shilling is converted to the dollar. If we have a monetary union, we shall trade using one common currency. If you look at the trade portfolio of Kenya and ... view
  • 10 Sep 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you hon. Speaker for giving me a chance. First and foremost, I am going to support the nominee. I think for the first time the President of this country has made an appointment devoid of tribalism. He has made an appointment which has looked at the qualifications of the person who has been appointed. One thing I want to say is this, as this guy joining the National Intelligence Service (NIS) it is time for those other senior people to resign in order to give the President a chance to improve intelligence gathering. This is so that this country ... view
  • 10 Sep 2014 in National Assembly: I support this. I am looking at the qualifications of the nominee. He is fully qualified academically. He has good professional training. I have looked at the way he has worked in the armed forces. He has risen through the ranks. He started as a cadet officer. He has moved up patiently. If you look at the records and the way he has been promoted to the level he is, then you do not see somebody who was favoured. You do not see somebody whose promotions were fast-tracked. I support this nominee, because I think for the first time since ... view
  • 10 Sep 2014 in National Assembly: Another issue that I want to mention is that as we move on as a country, the issue of intelligence will be very crucial. Mheshimiwa has mentioned here what happened in Migori, and which I condemn very much. It is unacceptable for any leader from whichever political persuasion to heckle, or try to disrupt a function of the President. However, the question is: Where was the intelligence? Where were these people who are supposed to advise the President on the situation on the ground, and that he needs to do this and that? There is still a challenge we are ... view

  • 26 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is the hon. Member in order to tell us that Safaricom has the ability to continue with this contract? What we know is that Safaricom had the ability to sub-contract. They did not have the capacity. They have outsourced from elsewhere. So, is the hon. Member in order to mislead this House that Safaricom has the ability and yet, we all know that Safaricom has no technical know-how? They have admitted to that. Is he in order to mislead the House? view
  • 26 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Is the Member in order to tell this House that the masts which will be used for communication belong to Safaricom? If they belong to Safaricom, how much money will the Government be paying per year? They will not be for free. This is a very serious issue if what the Member has said is correct. Is she in order to tell this House that the equipment, the method and structure of communication belongs to Safaricom? view
  • 14 Aug 2014 in National Assembly: I have been here all through. view
