Hon. Speaker, pursuant to Standing Order No.44(2)(c) I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Finance, Planning and Trade regarding the recently signed agreement by Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda authorizing a single trade permit amongst them. In this agreement, Tanzania was left out and yet she is our major trading partner as 24 per cent of our exports go to Tanzania. In his Statement, the Chairperson should inquire and report on:

Hon. Speaker, as you are aware, this is a very serious issue. It has serious economic implications for the country especially when it comes to how this is going to affect the ordinary person who takes a bus or train to go and do trade in Tanzania, Kenya, and Uganda.
