  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am moving the Motion and maybe I will have a seconder after that. view
  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I apologize. The hon. Member is confusing me further. view
  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I stand corrected and I respect your correction. I stand to support the Motion and comment on the issue of Ms. Amina Ahmed being removed from the list. This is a holder of a Bachelors Degree in Economics and French. For somebody who has passed in Economics, what questions were put to her and she was not able to answer? The hon. Member has just told us that one of the questions was when she joined NARC-Kenya. I hope I did not hear it right. view
  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, whether she was asked the question or she volunteered the information, she was judged by when she joined the political party. That is not something which has to do with revenue allocation. view
  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I think the hon. Member was not listening to what some of the other Members of the Committee were saying. I have not invented a statement. I have only quoted what the other Member of the Committee said. He claims to be a Member of the same Committee. So, if the two hon. Members were in the same Committee, probably, they are hiding some information. What Mr. Midiwo has said is different from what the other hon. Member said. We have been informed that this particular person just became a member of something, and I have inquired ... view
  • 25 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am just asking myself: Why are the Members of the Committee giving us contradictory information? The hon. Member who spoke before the Chairman mentioned clearly that they did not pass the CV. I think the Chairman should respect his own Members of the Committee because they were all in the same hall. If they did not respect the CV, that should have been the ground on which the presentation should have been made. My problem is that the information we are getting is not convincing. I hope that the Chairman will take advantage of his time, ... view
  • 10 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this Motion because the question of IDPs has been a question that some of us feel should have been addressed and finished with by now. We are about three years old with IDPs, resettlement has been going on, money was supposed to be given to the IDPs but to date, we do not have clear figures as to who got the money that we were promised. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for those of us hosting IDPs, we know for a fact that the IDPS were promised Kshs10,000 and ... view
  • 10 Nov 2010 in National Assembly: This Committee must also address the issue of all these displaced groups. When we talk of displaced groups, there are people who went to the IDP camps and there are others who did not go to the IDP camps. To date, it is not clear because we have not got real data that is able to help us know who actually moved to the camps and who did not move to them. We also do know that some people moved away from their places of work. Some moved from their farms and went to live amongst other people. Again, that ... view
  • 27 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to reply. (a) The following is a list companies with licenses to prospect for gypsum in Nanighi, Bangale and Madogo locations and their respective dates of licensing, including the acreage. I have 18 of them: Amka Ventures Limited, Athi Stores, Fatah Mining and Construction Company Limited, Altwahida Mining Company Limited, Hilaa Mining and Construction Company, Aftin General Trading, Yamata Gysum, Amka Ventures Limited, Athi River Mining Limited, which has two licenses given in April 2008 and 2009, Coast Quarries Limited, Tula Mining, Gypsum Handlers Limited, Nahid Abdulhamid Esmail, Yamata Gypsum Limited, Adoc Group of ... view
  • 27 Oct 2010 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, on the results of the EIA, before any mining is done an EIA study is done. Had I been asked that Question, I would have been able to provide a response. It is true the EIA was done. What the hon. Member should be more interested in is how the rehabilitation is done after the mining has taken place. Again, that is covered by law. This is because rehabilitation and reburying of the refuse must be done after mining has taken place. The residents are supposed to be involved. As I mentioned two weeks ago when ... view
