8 Nov 2022 in Senate:
When we lose grown-ups, the mourning is done by very many people. It, therefore, becomes lighter. The family would be there. However, when a mother loses a baby, she is alone, maybe with the husband and the other children. It is not something that attracts a crowd. Such mothers carry the burden for a very long time. That is why they easily slide into this post-partum depression. It is a very common thing but it is something that has been ignored for many years. That is why I appreciate Sen. Kibwana for coming up with this Motion. Sometimes nobody even ...

and only three beds in the maternity wing. It does not help us and does not move us forward. I am delighted that Sen. Kibwana quickly brought this forward so that we use it as the first dialogue between ourselves and our Council of Governors (CoG). I wish the Committee on Health can pick on this one and discuss it further. Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale said it can be developed into law at a certain point. It is time we discussed other things including maternity leave and how long it should be. Mothers are not giving birth to children just for ...

4 Oct 2022 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity. I go by what the Senator for Turkana County said, that right is right and wrong is wrong. It is very important for us to determine what is right and what is wrong. For that reason, I was very concerned during this debate when we were informed that a letter went to the Clerk and it has not reached the Speaker. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I had hoped that you would tell us if you got that letter. I want to appeal that even as we come tomorrow; we are very ...

generals in this House who have documents that are very privileged. I am being informed that we have three secretaries-generals. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to request that you demand that, not the phone, but a copy of the letter be tabled so that you can rule on it. In the event that we are not able to rule on that, on this side, we will keep on asking Sen. Ali Roba to come back home. Most likely, you will also be divided because he does not know whether the ruling was correct. My son-in-law is already telling him to ...

Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me an opportunity to welcome the students to this Chamber. All of us were students a long time. I want to remind the students that we are who we are because of the tips we were given by leaders and teachers at that time.

21 Jun 2022 in Senate:
We are also who we are because we remained steadfast and focused. Being focused when you are in school and doing that which will take you far, will pay you back. I want to remind the students that we know that you were victims of COVID-19, which disrupted your studies. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I feel for this group of students because they did not get the number of years that previous students got. However, I want to remind the students that being focused at this time will take you very far. We do not want to look back at what ...
