2 Mar 2021 in Senate:
Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to make my comments on the Petition that I brought on behalf of the residents of Uasin Gishu County. I thank the Committee for doing an excellent job. It took some time, but they needed to get enough information. The Petition that came from the residents of Uasin Gishu County was against the buying of the NBK building by the County Government of Uasin Gishu. The reasons the The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from ...

2 Mar 2021 in Senate:
residents were against this buying were confirmed by the Committee when we went down to the ground. We had sessions with the governor and his team. However, when we went to the ground to confirm whether the building was worth the Kshs570 million, it was shocking to find that it was dilapidated and had not been inhabited by anybody for over 10 years because of the state it was in. When we talked to the bank manager, it was surprising that they had been trying to sell the building for a long time. The complainers brought forward to the Committee ...

24 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. I thank Sen. Omogeni for donating a few minutes to me. I really wanted to speak on this Bill that was extremely important to us, as a Committee. This Bill was very dear to the Committee, basically because early childhood education had been misplaced for a very long time. As we discussed as a Committee, we discovered that the child that should have been the favorite in the education system was being put to the sideline. Infrastructure was not meant for them, but for the older children. Even where they schooled with the older children, ...

It is at that point that a child learns good manners, and they will never forget. It is at that level that a child learns that they must wash their hands before eating, and they will never forget. It is at that stage that we can in-build the values that we call the Kenyan values. For us to be able to do that, it is very important that we have the right infrastructure. Moreover, it is very important that the child feels appreciated because the ironical thing is that at home, the mother takes better care of the youngest child, ...

. We learn from one another, and as we continue to work for ourselves and to work together, we will make a difference in this country. Thank you very much Sen. Omogeni for giving me a show time of your time of submission, so that I could also add my voice and say that we will make a difference to our children with this Bill being assented to. Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for the time.

17 Feb 2021 in Senate:
Thank you very much, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me an opportunity. First of all, I would like to congratulate our sister, Sen. (Dr.) Zani, for improving the Co-operative Societies Bill in major ways. We really thank her for doing this because this is one Bill that needed to be aligned to the Constitution. I think that we have lost a number of years without using the right methods. I say this because we have received Petitions from Savings and Credit Cooperatives (SACCOs). If only we had improved on the law itself, we would not have been worrying about how ...

17 Feb 2021 in Senate:
First, I want to register on behalf of all of us, our pole to the Nyagah family, because this is a man who did a lot for this country. However, since we were in recess we did not have an opportunity to send our deep condolences. I know that it is passed, but if you write the history of the cooperative societies movement in Kenya, the name Joe Nyagah will always stand out very strongly because of the improvements that he put in the sector. With that in mind, I thank our sister because she has brought out those issues. ...
