  • 5 May 2009 in National Assembly: Thank you Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to begin by saying congratulations for rescuing us last week. We were in a dilemma as a nation and as a people we faced very embarrassing situations outside. People were asking us: “What are you doing in Parliament, making noise all the time and fighting?” The decision that the Chair made restored our dignity and the glory that we had lost to the society. view
  • 6 Aug 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker. I stand to support the Constitution of Kenya Review Bill. It is a good Bill and very well drafted. However, I would like to suggest two or three amendments. I am only hoping that we still have room left especially in the Committee of Experts. Whereas we have three foreigners and four Kenyans we should have room to accommodate four more Kenyans, to have a regional representation within the eight provinces so that we have every province represented within the committee. So, we will have eight Kenyans and three foreigners. This is a suggestion ... view
  • 17 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, mine is very simple and straight to the point. The hon. Minister has told us who was the General Manager then. I want to--- view

  • 10 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I stand to support the Motion. I will make my contribution very short and simple. I would first of all like to congratulate the Minister for carrying herself very well yesterday and today. However, we still do not find the development agenda on the documents they gave us. So, we have managed to get a few copies for ourselves. I see in the development agenda, there is Kshs465 million for polytechnics for skills training. I would like to request that this money be speedily spent to transform the polytechnics into universities. This was ... view
  • 8 May 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to comment on the Bill and say that it is a good idea, but is badly drafted. We need such a law in place, but the way it is right now does not even limit itself to its own jurisdiction. It has a little bit of here and there, and a lot of duplication of other laws of the land. That will bring a lot of confusion and contravene other laws which we are already using. If we were to go the foreign currency way, the way the Bill is, we would ... view
  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to tell all hon. Members here that they are within my constituency. So, karibunyumbani ! This Parliament is within Starehe Constituency. God bless you! I would like to thank and congratulate the eminent persons and our two principals; His Excellency the President and the Prime Minister Mr. Raila for the work they have done. Referring to him as the Prime Minister does not mean that I do not know that he has not been sworn-in. My Bible tells me that we call things that are not, as if they were. I ... view
  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, for that hallelujah. We pray that this will not stop at Parliament but it will trickle down. As one hon. Member said, the 30 per cent slots promised in Government positions and other opportunities will truly be granted and that this will trickle down to the girl child right at the grassroots. 162 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES March 13, 2008 Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also take interest--- It is good to inform hon. Members that some of us, ladies, have just come back from what we call Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) conference in New York. ... view
  • 13 Mar 2008 in National Assembly: shades in such a place? That space is so big that we can build a modern 20-floors market or something awesome so that many people can sit there! But now, we are wasting the space with some little stalls that cannot even accommodate our people! We need to look at our society and modernise our markets. The old markets should be demolished! There are some markets that you cannot even touch a stone because the whole wall will crumble down and fall. They are so old and they have never been renovated! They just need to be crashed down and ... view
