Members, Article 119 of the Constitution provides for the right of any person to petition Parliament to consider any matter within its authority, including petitioning the House to enact, amend or repeal any legislation. Additionally, according to Standing Order 225(2)(b), the Speaker must report to the House any petition other than those that a Member has presented. In this regard, Hon. The Petitioner, therefore, prays that the National Assembly enacts legislation to regulate the credit profession to provide a qualified and well-regulated credit profession that, in the long term, will ensure stability and sustainability of lending institutions, among other attendant provisions.
