There are four principles of social justices. One of them is equity. We need to embrace equity in terms of job opportunities and avoid marginalizing communities. Access to information is enshrined in our Constitution. There should be equal opportunity in terms of access to information, basic needs, opportunities et cetera . When it comes to participation, every community in globally has a right to participate in developing their countries. I commend Sen. (Dr.) Musuruve because when we celebrate this day, we are upping the game by achieving the social equity in the world. We need to be alive to the ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I stand to support the Bill. This Bill has a lot of improvement and amendments. This Bill cuts across the agreement of the two parties, especially where the tenant and the landlords are to discuss the issues they face in terms of service provided. It is very important for us to support this Bill. I speak as one of the people who have been both a tenant and a landlady. There are so many challenges that need mutual agreements governed by the law, especially when it comes to payments. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, there are so ...

to wait for three months yet you are the one paying for the mortgage, is a big challenge. Let us also consider the timeframe that is given. We also know that in Kenya most of the payments, especially in terms of loans, are done monthly. If the interest continues to pile because you are waiting for the tribunal to settle your issue and you do not have any other source of income to replenish when it comes to the property you took using a loan, then you will suffer. Speaking from both sides, we also have rogue landlords or property ...

Madam Temporary Speaker, I do not know why Sen. Cherargei says the President is imposing leadership in this country and yet we democratically elect our leaders. When it comes to the time of Azimio la Umoja Coalition to be elected, the people will decide. Right now, the President is in control. He has not been biased in any way. I would tell the hon. Senator that bigger things are coming. It is not the President who will impose leader on us, but the people of Kenya will elect the President of their choice. I urge Sen. Cherargei not to feel ...

Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to support the Statement by Sen. Cherargei on the high cost of food, farm inputs and the cost of living. When you look at the high cost of living in this country, you feel for those people who are not employed and even those who are. The country needs to grow from the COVID-19 pandemic that we just had. Prices are skyrocketing. When you go to supermarkets and wholesale outlets, you will find that the cash at hand cannot accommodate what you want. This will lead and is leading to ...

I urge the Government to look into the issue of raising the cost of every commodity and service in this country. The cost of living is being raised higher than Kenyans can afford. Madam Temporary Speaker, there so many Kenyans who are unemployed. Where do they get the money to meet the high cost of living? Where do they get what to eat? There are so many who are moving to urban areas. There is a lot of confusion around the cost of living, how one can accommodate herself and make the cost of living better. Our cries are falling on ...
