  • 25 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Kenya Roads (Amendment) Bill, 2021. I also want to take this opportunity to thank my Chair. I serve as the Vice-Chair in the Committee. Road sector is key. If you go to a country and find the transport system not in order, it is said that that country is not doing well. Road sector which serves almost 100 per cent of a country needs to be headed by the people who have passed through the system which has been set in our country. I will start by supporting the ... view
  • 25 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Let me adjust it better. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, three years is less compared to the kind of work the Director General has to undertake in a country whereby you have roads like the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) which is all over the country in the 290 constituencies. I support Hon. Maanzo who talked about how roads are sometimes neglected in other parts of the country. The addition to five years will enable the DG to handle the amount of work. The 10 years’ experience is necessary because one may find that it is hard to manage even with ... view
  • 25 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: undertake all these processes. You will find even if a road has been approved, within six months the contractor can get to the ground and proceed with work. I will give an example of my constituency, Kasarani where the roads have been done well. We only had Kangundo Road which was done in 1965. All over the years, Eastlands have always been considered as an urban area. However, it is always left out when it comes to development. However, with agencies like KeRRA in the 290 constituencies, at least the areas will develop. So, I support the Amendment Bill so ... view
  • 12 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I rise to ask the Cabinet Secretary for Lands and Physical Planning the following Question: (i) Could the Cabinet Secretary provide the ownership status of land currently occupied by squatters in Chokaa, Ruai Ward; Maili Saba and Njiru Estates in Njiru Ward; Gituamba in Kasarani Ward; and, Budalang’i in Mwiki Ward Kasarani Constituency? (ii) Could the Cabinet Secretary consider settling the squatters on the said land and issue them with title deeds considering that they have occupied the land for over 30 years? view
  • 6 May 2021 in National Assembly: I, Hon. Mercy Wanjiku Gakuya from the most populated constituency in Kenya, Kasarani, I vote yes. view
  • 24 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Report and I commend the Committee for the good job on the inquiry of the status of stadia in Kenya. It is unfortunate that sports are still regarded as an extra curriculum activity: they are not taken seriously. When things to do with health and education become worse, the whole country rises up not to condemn the people who have not done the right thing. Unfortunately, we are talking today but as locals, we do not support our local teams. We do not support our local players. People are ... view
  • 24 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: they have a god father. Even if you complain, nothing will happen. That is why a good percentage of the work is not done. It is unfortunate that we are still complaining about sports in this century whereas other countries are doing well in sports. Maybe, many people think that a stadium will only help or benefit the locals. If I may give an example of the stadium that we have in Kasarani Constituency, the Moi International Sports Centre, it is an international sports center. My locals do not use the stadium. So, even us, we still need stadiums to ... view
  • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Asante, Bi. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 19 Nov 2020 in National Assembly: Na mimi kama Kiongozi wa hapa Nairobi, kuna mambo mengi aliyozungumzia ambayo yalinigusa. Haswa, alivitaja vyeti miliki ambavyo vimepeanwa kwetu.
  • 30 Jul 2020 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support the Report of the Committee on riparian land. I want to state that this has been a big issue in Nairobi County. If we do not have proper laws that safeguard any improvement that is done within the county, then people tend to do their own things. I am a host of the largest and the only sewer plant in the capital city of Kenya in Ruai. Along the Nairobi River all the way to Ruai, there is a lot of encroachment. I am not sure about the action to ... view
