  • 30 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. You have actually removed words from my mouth. I sit in the BAC and I know it sat last week. Even though I did not attend, I think one of the ways that I was going to say is that the BAC needs to bring a report before this House, so that we summon the relevant cabinet secretary. I do not need to belabor this point. The only point that I can say is that unlike what the public thinks, this is not a spit on the face of the Judiciary. This is a spit on ... view

  • 29 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise under Standing Order No.95. Going by the mood of the House and the last sentiments, will I be in order to request that the Mover be now called upon to reply? Hon. Speaker, I can see we have other business in the House. The Calendar of the House this week is very weighty. This Bill is procedural, but not weighty. Most Members support it with minor amendments. Will I be in order to ask that the Mover be called upon to reply? The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposes ... view

  • 29 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: confirm that I will neither remember the name of Standing Orders in Kiswahili nor will I read it in Kiswahili. Where I come from, Kiswahili is not our language. So, I promise I will neither remember what the Standing Orders are called in Kiswahili nor will I read them. In principle, I support the Bill. I thank the Committee for bringing it. I am supporting in principle because if you look at the principle behind data protection, it is, indeed, noble especially because we are in a digitised era and most of our work is becoming digitised whether it is ... view

  • 29 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you. I thank the Chair because he is telling me the private one is covered. Every single day, you are inundated by people using your personal data to get you into all manner of groups. I think all Members know that. You wake up in the morning and you are in a group of people who harvest flies, people who want to dance while singing and all manner of things. Sometimes you just switch off your phone not because you do not want to work with people, but it is overwhelming. There must be some control in terms of ... view

  • 8 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I thank the Committee for this Report. Unfortunately, I wish to oppose because the Committee did not take its work seriously. I am saying this with very good reasons. Recently, I watched the Committee when they were dealing with an issue relating to Child Welfare Society of Kenya. They walked into the buildings, saw new chairs, walked out and even without giving a report, gave it a clean bill of health. That same careless attitude is the attitude that I am seeing in this Report. We are dealing with ... view
  • 8 Oct 2019 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I do not fear responding to their points of order. Can they raise them? They are all new and I will teach them as they raise their points of order. Can I proceed? view
