Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. ODM party nominated her to Parliament 2008 and she clinched the Mbita seat in the 2013 election.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I will clarify. First of all, I would be the greatest defender of Akothee because my home name is Akothee. We have a shared thing with her. Other than that, I love her free spirit - she is quite a free spirit; she is such a go-getter. She is a very strong spirit. So, I support her. What example I was giving is that there was a controversy at one point. I do not know where she was performing. It sent the whole country on fire. Some people thought she had danced semi-naked before ...

being naked in one area of the country may look anathema in another part of the country. Where I come from, we all bath naked in the lake and it is not a big deal. I am sure they would all run away where Hon. Sankok comes from if I walked naked amongst fellow women. It is not a big deal where I come from. We bath together. We even borrow soap and bath in the lake with each other while naked. It is not a big deal. I was giving that as an example with discomatanga. When my father ...

am saying is that from the treaty, every dancer that brings a new style can now be guaranteed that we will protect their new dance styles. Dancers that bring a new style can now be guaranteed of their protection. However, when you talk about the intellectual properties right, maybe we will say that you have a right to a specific dance style. If you look at some of those dance styles, they are the same from our time. For example, there was a dance style that came when I was young which was called “metal”. It faded and came back ...

Hon. Deputy Speaker, is Hon. Mbadi in order to mislead this House? The population of his Suba is smaller than ours. They are not the original one. They are our sisters, but because we were given a wrong name which they stole, they became Suba South. We are the North. They are not original. We are both Subas.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I am just concerned about this new procedure of Members donating their time and not the Speaker giving chance to Members. I am also concerned about the issue of ranking. You are a lawyer and you understand ranking. It applies in the court corridors. It must apply in this House. I want to support this Bill because Parliament has come a long way with this Bill – from Joe Donde to Jakoyo and Hon. Jude Njomo, who has been very consistent. I thank him for that. With the Atieno‟s ...

Hon. Speaker, I supported Ms. Mwinzi when her case was brought here but my voice was in the minority. However, the House spoke to it and pronounced itself. Once the House does that, that voice must be respected. However, even in respecting that voice, we must also follow the procedures and rules of the House.
