Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. • 7 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: I just wanted, as a Member of the Committee, to get the indulgence of Hon. Nyikal and tell him that this Bill was canvassed through a number of instruments. As you are aware, the President already flagged off, on Sunday, oil that is going to Lamu. We have in Lokichar 80,000 barrels in stock. For purposes of expediency, it is prudent that this Bill is passed in its entirety based on the advice from my Chair because it will help this country. More importantly, you may not be aware… view

  • 6 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. If you have a Member who is passionate and has been promoted by Hon. Ouda, can you have it in your heart to add him two minutes? It is not every day that you find Members that are so passionate about the work that they do. Hon. Kanini Kega has been recognised as being very passionate about presenting his Report. view
  • 5 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for giving me this opportunity. I wish to support what the President said in his exposition that, indeed, the handshake is good for this country. I hope through it, we will get the Rusinga-Ring Road and Mfangano-Ring Road in my constituency done as the President promised us during his campaigns. I want to be very brief on the issues which the exposition relates to. On the issue of the Report on the Measures Taken and Progress Achieved in the Realisation of National Values and Principles of Governance, the President talked about his commitment to fight corruption ... view

  • 3 May 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. From the outset, I support this Motion. I have heard Members referring clearly to the Constitution and urging the CRA that even as they are giving this allocation, they focus on the 14 counties and follow the Constitution. If you want to follow the Constitution, then we look at Article 204. I do not want to concentrate too much on that Article because it sets the Equalisation Fund. I want to go to the definition of “marginalisation”. The Constitution defines marginalised community and marginalised group. Many of us are ... view

Maybe I would put the Maasai there. “( c ) an indigenous community that has retained and maintained a traditional lifestyle and livelihood based on a hunter or gatherer economy; or ( d ) pastoral persons and communities, whether they are— (i) nomadic; or (ii) a settled community that, because of its relative geographic isolation, has experienced ... view
  • 3 May 2018 in National Assembly: I do not have a problem sharing. I have my own personal things which are not the ones that I had. I have a brother who is sick, but that is not what is touching me. What is touching me is when I remember a little boy who was shot dead in this country. What touches me is when I remember people who were shot dead in front of me in this country. view
