Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. ODM party nominated her to Parliament 2008 and she clinched the Mbita seat in the 2013 election.

Based on the meeting that we had with the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, we had agreed in (i) that we have two representatives and not one, so that we have an organization that deals with women and an organization that deals with children. I am proposing that we put “two” instead of “one”.

When we sat with the Committee and proposed the deletion of clause 24, it was on the basis that it was going to be catered for elsewhere as part of coherent flow. It was supposed to form part of another section of this Bill. However, it has not come through.
