Millie first thought about becoming Mbita MP at age 13. The graduate of University of Nairobi School of Law has worked as a lawyer and women and children rights activist. The CRADLE is one of the MP’s dream come true. She founded the organization that promotes the rights of children since 1997. Millie has received the YWCA Democracy Award and the Eve woman of the year for human rights and gender. Her political tipping point came when she served as a delegate at the Bomas of Kenya, during the constitutional drafting process. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Let me first indicate that my constituency, Suba North, used to be Mbita Constituency. I am ready to proceed with my amendment, but I have been given an indication that Hon. Sharif may want us to do some harmonisation. If that is the way he wants to go, I am okay. I also want to encourage our colleagues that whenever they bring amendments, the best way to go about it is to discuss with Members, because that is how we operate. Yes. Hon. Speaker, I have actually looked at some of the issues that were sent to me by the Muslim lawyers, and I am willing to drop quite a number of the ones they were unhappy with. Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to welcome the delegation from Zimbabwe in a very special way. It would be actually a travesty of justice if my in-laws would be here and I do not welcome them specially. That would create jeopardy in my house: I might be divorced if I do not welcome them specially. I want to take this opportunity to specially welcome them to the House. Thank you.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Can Hon. Ichung’wah declare his interest in this matter? To the best of my knowledge, information and belief, the gentleman he is talking about is not his constituent and he is not from Kenya. Why the personal interest in a person who is not his constituent? Can he declare his interest? We have information that that is his business partner.
