Mishi actively participated in Likoni political campaigns in 1997 and 2002. She vied for Likoni parliamentary seat in 2007 and lost in party nominations which were marred by irregularities. She would like to see government funded drug rehabilitation centres established in Mombasa.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. This is just a continuation from where I was in seconding the Constitution of Kenya (Amendment) Bill. I just want to wrap up with the reason we are doing amendments in this Bill. The main aim is to ensure we have well-qualified Members who are going to be nominated especially after the results of general elections. In most scenarios, you see resourceful and stronger members losing during a general election. When you do the nominations, after the results, this should be the right moment where you are going to know strong members who are ...

I beg to second this amendment Bill by Hon. (Ms.) Florence Mutua. I also appreciate her for coming up with such a Bill. This is the only way we will ensure that the right, qualified and resourceful people, who did not make it in the general election, come to this Parliament and add value. They will be in the leadership to ensure that we make changes in terms of law, and spearhead the development of this country. I beg to second.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, and congratulations to Hon. King’ara. I have seen that leaders have already talked about safeguarding of our public institutions and also protecting the 10 per cent which has been given as surrender for public amenities. I want to talk about the issue of the leases. Sections 6, 7 and 12 of the Lands Act provide that those leases which have been given to non-citizens, at expiry, have to revert back to the county governments or to the national Government, as the case may be. This will regulate the issue of leases because there have ...

Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I support this Motion by Hon. Kassim Tandaza. At the outset, I congratulate and appreciate him for coming up with such an important amendment to this Bill. Achiote Crop, Mrangi or popularly known as Bixa, was introduced in the Coast region way back in 1970. That crop is disease free; it is drought resistant and it mainly grows in the Coast region in Lamu area and in Kwale, in an area called Tiwi. It is important to note that there is a small Bixa industry in Kwale County at Tiwi. But it is unfortunate that ...

we will be ahead. We will also ensure that the Agenda Four of His Excellency President Hon. Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, which talks about manufacturing, is fulfilled. This will be one of the industries which can be created in the Coast region. I support this amendment. I, once again, congratulate Hon. Kassim Tandaza. I thank you.
