  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker. First of all, as I said, I thank Hon. ole Sankok for bringing this Motion for Adjournment. view
  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: It is the responsibility of the Government to protect lives and property. I do not come from Laikipia but I have been watching the news very keenly. It saddens me to see the loss of lives and property. The cyclic occurrence of this conflict in Laikipia is similar to what has been happening in many parts of Kenya, particularly in the pastoralist community. Every time there is this kind of issue, people must realise that there must be some form of injustice. From what I have gathered on my own, there is the issue of historical land injustices. The Government ... view
  • 23 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: There has been loss of livestock, houses were burnt and schools were closed. The Government went and did some activities, but I believe that there is need to address the root cause of those conflicts. We appeal to the Government, the people of Laikipia and other tribes in Kenya to sit down together and talk to one another. Let the Government also open up. There are tracts of land which are not being utilised and some people are categorised as causing insecurity. The pastoralist community will look for pasture and food. Sometimes when they do that, conflicts will arise. Those ... view

  • 3 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me an opportunity to talk on this Bill. First of all I thank Hon. Duale for coming up with the WAQF Bill. I thank all Members who have spoken on the Bill before me. The WAQF Bill is an endowment fund. The concept is basically Islamic. It is always good. It is to help weaker people in the society. It is for those who have more to give out, and for those who have a good heart to also contribute to the welfare of the common people. In line with the Constitution ... view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady for giving me this opportunity. I will start by thanking the Chairman of Defence and Foreign Relations Committee for coming up with this Bill. I want to say that indeed, this country is famous for many things including the great people of this country, the athletes, those who work in agriculture, tourism, flora and fauna of this nation. What we want the Foreign Service to do, is to represent us internationally in all the aspects of this country, in countries they represent us from. I think it is also important just to mention that ... view
  • 7 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Finally, I think that as a country, we are part of the international community. Some of the ways we relate is through adoption of international laws and going for foreign trips. We want to have a Foreign Service that is well trained and one that is going to guide Kenyans who are going to represent this country in international affairs. With those few remarks, I support the Bill. view

  • 29 Jun 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy for giving me the opportunity to contribute to this Motion. I take this chance to first thank the Departmental Committee on Finance and National Planning for providing a very comprehensive Report. However, I feel that it left a major part of this country. Kenya borders five countries: Tanzania, Uganda, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia. We have three counties in the North Eastern region and Lamu in the Coastal region which border Somalia. None of those places has a one stop border post which has been mentioned here, The electronic version of the Official ... view
