  • 9 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me this opportunity o also support this Motion. I want to thank both the Minister and the Committee for a job well done. This nominee is a known Kenyan and nobody doubts his ability to transact efficient and effective business within the JSC. But in future, I would like the Committee to make sure that they are very sure about the candidates that they bring before this House. They should investigate thoroughly and recommend the way they have done in unison, so that we are not treated to the kind of treatment ... view
  • 9 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I beg to move that the House adjourns pursuant to Standing Order No.23 to discuss the humanitarian crisis brought about by the ravaging famine in many parts of the country. I support the ongoing homegrown initiative by Kenyans for Kenya. First of all, I want to thank you and the House for acknowledging that this Motion is important and timely. We live in a country where majority of our people are living in severe strain. They live in pain and frustration. They live in almost utter hopelessness. The current situation that we ... view
  • 3 Aug 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I rise to compliment, and in a major way, thank the Kenya Red Cross Society and request the Assistant Minister to see whichever way possible--- Just the other day, my own party, through the ODM(K) Women Political Caucus gave this wonderful organization Kshs1 million. We have absolute faith in the ability of the Kenya Red Cross Society to deliver to Kenyan people. However, it appears as if this organization has in many ways replaced the Government of Kenya. What the Government should have done is being done under very difficult circumstances by the Kenya Red Cross ... view

  • 15 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. It is very clear that there is a level of discrimination in terms of how this upgrading is being done. The problem is that even when the communities decide that a certain facility must be upgraded, this is taken to the headquarters where a gazettement is done. It is at the headquarters where there are a lot of frustrations. Could the Assistant Minister, therefore, table - I have an interest in Wajir South and generally the three counties in North Eastern Province - the number of dispensaries that were upgraded ... view
  • 15 Jun 2011 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, this is a supplementary question. The Chuluni Dispensary is one of the many health facilities that are due for upgrading. It is expected that the Assistant Minister will be equipped to be able to tell the House the number of health facilities the Ministry has upgraded. It is absolutely in order. view
