  • 2 Feb 2022 in National Assembly: This is the right time for us to put the right measures in place. If we talk of punishment, we have to be specific. If we research, we will know why there has been delay in payment of retiree’s pension. At times, the problem is not with the National Treasury. Money could be there but the staff have their own ways of working. I agree with the Member who said that after the lapse of three months, a retiree’s saved money should earn interest every month. If we have that we will save lives. Many of these people when they ... view
  • 24 Nov 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. At the outset, I wish to support the Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute Bill. For over 40 years, we have had an Institute that is dormant. Most of the challenges that the world is facing today, Kenya not being an exception, are things that can be resolved through research. Research is basically there to solve most of the problems that humanity faces today. It is unfortunate that, as the developed world or partners look for solutions in research and investing, we are busy fighting things that do not add value. When you look ... view

  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, whatever is being discussed here cuts across all constituencies. As you said, Members have been here since morning. I know that it should have come at the beginning of the debate, but I request Members to be considerate. If you take three minutes to deliver your message, each one of us will have an opportunity to speak for our people. I kindly request the Members who have been here since morning to be considerate, if given an opportunity. I know that it should have come at the beginning of the debate, but I am just making ... view
  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Definitely, I will be very considerate. Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to also put my voice on this important Bill. This is a very timely Bill. As leaders we have to be very serious to analyse what is happening in this country. If we do not fix it, it will soon become an emergency and a crisis. There is an outcry. The importance of this Bill is to ensure that job seekers do not spend even a single cent while looking for employment. You are asking for documents from people who do not have ... view
  • 29 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: you are able to establish from these agencies, so that you have the choice to keep the employee or let them relinquish the job. I would urge the Government to ensure that the young people looking for jobs are not restricted in any way through these documents. The minimum amount required for all these documents is about Ksh6,000. You apply for a job, which you are not sure of getting. The following day another job comes up and you need to apply. Within one month, you have spent over Ksh30,000 yet you have nothing to show for it. I sit ... view
  • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to air my views on this Sessional Paper No. 10 on the National Cooperative Policy. Many things are happening in this country and we can all agree with the poverty index that we had just the other day in this country that almost a half of Kenyans are living below the poverty line. It is a challenge that today most of the developing countries are struggling to see how to pull the people who are at the lowest point of the pyramid. However, the way they do it may ... view
  • 21 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: picking up, the same fellows who were up there joined the cooperatives to frustrate some of them. It is true we may be doing well but it is true again we have to agree that we have left quite a number of people away. If this policy is followed to the latter, you will realise that it is going to actually solve this problem of employment. Today in the entire world we have millions of people who are in very good jobs because of the cooperative movement. We are talking of even food security in this country but today you ... view
  • 8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. In the interest of time, I will be very brief. At the outset, I want to appreciate my senior Hon. Wafula Wamunyinyi for this nice Bill. This Bill is very timely. With this Bill, we are providing a solution to majority of Kenyans who are crying and are in problems. We are investing time and money without the returns that they are entitled to. With the introduction of sugar board, you will rest assured that there will be overall supervision of proper policies and plans on the programmes of the factory so that levies ... view
  • 8 Jul 2021 in National Assembly: Secondly, you realise that farmers have been under the mercy of those factories in terms of the pricing of sugar-cane. At times, when there is an outcry, farmers have nowhere to go. So, with the establishment of this board, if it is well established according to this Bill, we are likely to have a body that will be able to speak on behalf of the farmers. This is something very important because the rights of the farmers have been violated for quite some time. So, we are just going back to the original Act that we had before that will ... view
