  • 9 Nov 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, I support Sen. Iman’s Statement. We have too many challenges on security in this country. Our committee on National Security Defence and Foreign Relations visited Laikipia County recently. What we saw and what we were told was harrowing. view
  • 9 Nov 2021 in Senate: are pointing to a nearby thicket, that the bandits are right there. They come and raid in broad daylight, take away livestock, destroy property and kill people. Marsabit, Mandera, Garissa, Isiolo and Samburu counties are not any better, not to mention Turkana County. We urge the Government that banditry should not be an issue that we debate, cry and do nothing about it. I am sure the Government has the capacity and the means to deploy all forces available, especially if they want to deploy the armed forces and the army. They can bring a Motion to the House as ... view

  • 3 Nov 2021 in Senate: Madam Deputy Speaker, I also wish to support this Statement by the distinguished Senator for Nandi. You and I chaired the maize inquiry in this view
  • 2 Nov 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Deputy Speaker. How times change. When Sen. Murkomen was the Senate Majority Leader, he would never allow a question about how stadiums were. I am happy that he has now seen the light and knows that there are no stadiums. This question is very important. I urge my distinguished nephew to broaden the scope of inquiry not only to football matters, but sports in this country. The FKF is now limping. Instead of getting support, we are embarking on punitive and malicious investigations against it. I want us to be told how much money has been set ... view
  • 21 Oct 2021 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for giving me an opportunity and dispensation. My Statement was number five, but on my request, you have kindly agreed to give me an opportunity. I rise pursuant to Standing Order 48 (1) to seek a Statement from the Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the security of students of Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) while in and around the university in Kakamega Town. In the Statement, the Committee should- (1) Explain the circumstances leading to the brutal murder of a student of Civil Engineering, the late Mr. ... view
  • 21 Oct 2021 in Senate: (3) Spell out measures, if any, put in place by the university administration and relevant Government security agencies to ensure the security and safety of students in and around that university following an increase in cases of attacks on them in the area. This is not the first, second or third brutal attack and murder of a student at the university in Kakamega. (4) Cause the Government to compensate the parents of the deceased on grounds of negligence by security agents in performance of their duties. It is a very sad story where a brilliant student of civil and structural ... view

  • 21 Oct 2021 in Senate: When the university administration was asked what happened, they are reported to have said the incident happened outside the university. That is a very callous, negligent and reckless answer coming from the university administration. view
