  • 26 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Minister has not answered my 3192 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES October 26, 2006 question. I have asked him whether his office has dealt with the company called "Midlands" by issuing it with a licence? Has he allowed the company to process or deal with pyrethrum products? view
  • 26 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, you can see that the Minister is being very brief purposely because he knows that he has issued a licence to a company called "Midlands". Maybe, the Minister may not have been aware that once he issued the company the licence for research purposes, it wrote proposals to donors to start a processing factory in Nyandarua. The management of the company has held meetings and told the farmers that nobody else will deal with pyrethrum in Central Province except them, since they were given the letter. Will the Minister cancel that letter? The Government promised that it ... view
  • 3 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I have had to use my own money to organize my constituents to get identity cards because the Ministry does not have enough money. My problem is with the headquarters. Once the identity cards are brought to the headquarters, the machine that is supposed to process them has a perennial breakdown. That is why even when you use your money to organize people to go and apply for identity cards, eventually the identity cards do not get to the constituencies because the machines that are supposed to be doing this work are not functioning. What ... view
  • 1 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Health what plans she has to provide dialysis machines in all provincial and district hospitals in the country. view
  • 1 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I am shocked to hear the Assistant Minister say that the Government has no intention of investing in these machines. Currently the only hospital that is offering patients dialysis services is Kenyatta National Hospital. Dialysis is a way of cleaning the system and a patient has to do it about three times in a week. What is happening is that, Kenyans are migrating from Western, Nyanza, Rift Valley and Coast provinces to come and stay in Nairobi because of this essential service. I know of patients who have abandoned their families to come and stay in Nairobi ... view
  • 1 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I hope the Assistant Minister is serious when he says that in the next financial year they will install the machines, because many Kenyans are dying as a result of unavailability of those machines. What measures is the Ministry taking to reduce the expenses that Kenyans are incurring at the Kenyatta National Hospital? Currently, one session of dialysis costs about Kshs5,000. Very few Kenyans can afford that amount especially because they are supposed to go for it about two or three times a week. What is the Assistant Minister doing to make sure that this service is ... view
  • 27 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister is not serious! The principal owner of the company was Nalin Nail Works, who at that time was under receivership. The company has already changed hands, to Devki Engineering. All along the Ministry knew that this company was indebted to these workers, and they allowed the company to change hands. Why did they not intervene, so that KCB was not allowed to sell this company before the workers' rights were sorted out? 2436 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES July 27, 2006 view
  • 26 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to know from the Assistant Minister how seriously the Government takes the Adult Education Programme. Would it not be better if the programme was incorporated in the Ministry of Education rather than be in the Ministry that is handling it at the moment? view
  • 18 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. What I want to--- view
  • 18 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, is it in order for Mr. Salat to say that Bomet District has been allocated a paltry Kshs3 million while Nakuru District has not been allocated anything? view
