  • 29 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the remarks by Mr. Wamunyinyi--- view
  • 22 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, power failure is not being experienced in Yatta Constituency alone, but all over the country. Could the Assistant Minister consider alerting the public whenever there is such a problem so that we may be able to plan? In my consituency, we have power failure every Sunday. Could he, please, assist the public on this matter? view
  • 14 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, from the answer given by the Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs, it shows that there are people who are harvesting our forests despite the fact that there is a total ban. The Vice-President and Minister for Home Affairs has told us that there are 27,290 hectares of over-mature plantations. My knowledge of forestry informs me that a tree planted for commercial use is a crop and any time it over-matures the Government incurs a loss. What are they doing to save the further loss of these tree plantations? view
  • 13 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. Since this Motion is attracting a lot of attention could I request for extension of time for the sitting of the House? view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the allegations that the Assistant Minister is making against the dismissed officer cannot be substantiated. There should be an independent disciplinary committee in the Kenya Police to deal with disciplinary cases. In most cases, senior officers who have grudges against junior officers or have extra-marital affairs with the wives of the junior officers, punish the junior officers in order to achieve their goals. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, are there plans in the Ministry to establish an independent disciplinary committee in the Police department? view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Finance:- (a) whether he is aware that Mr. Edward Cheruiyot (Pension No.APN/PC.159766) has not been paid his pension since he retired on 30th, April, 2004; (b) whether he is further aware that the above is in contravention of the Pensions (Amendment) Act, 2004; and, (c) when Mr. Cheruiyot will be paid. view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would like to thank the Assistant Minister for that answer. However this Question was filed a long time ago. Mr. Cheruiyot retired in April, 2004, and, therefore, the Ministry contravened the "Musila (Amendment) Act" by not paying the pensioner in time. Could the Assistant Minister undertake to pay interest on the said pension dues since he has contravened the Pensions (Amendment) Act? view
  • 7 Jun 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I thank the Assistant Minister for that good answer. I hope that, in future, we will not have to ask Questions in Parliament, when we have an Act of Parliament. view
  • 4 May 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to second the amendment on the Motion. We should go for recess and come back to this House to conduct serious business. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have many pending Bills before this House. Secondly, the Government has not been able to organise itself - including the House Business Committee - to bring back hon. Members who were poached by various House Committees. This is a very lazy Government. We need to watch it all the time and push it hard! Unless Members of this Government are pushed, nothing will happen. Kenyans ... view
