13 Aug 2009 in National Assembly:
Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, I also stand to support the Vote. I ask the Minister just to indulge me a little bit. I think there is a lot the Ministry can do to actually increase the volume of tourism in this country, both domestic and traditional. Just to start with what Maj. Sugow said about North Eastern Province, I think the Ministry should be asking why people do not go to North Eastern Province. The answer is that the infrastructure is bad. Mr. Speaker, Sir, I think it is very well for the Minister to talk about a reduction in visa charges, but is he aware that when visitors arrive at the airport, issuance of visas takes a very long time? Recently, we had a delegation of Members of Parliament from the Zech Republic, who had to wait for two hours before they could be issued with visas! What is the Minister doing about working with the Department of Immigration to ensure that visa issuance is speedy?

5 May 2009 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the Speech by His Excellency the President. In his Speech, the President, indeed, enumerated many areas that needed to be tackled. He talked on the issues of security, reforms, economic development and employment. All these issues that the President addressed, unfortunately, during this period are hinged on a proper working of the Grand Coalition. In this area, the President, having gone through a whole year in a Coalition which was brought about by the National Accord and having realized the pitfalls and weaknesses that may ...
