  • 3 Mar 2015 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support the approval of the names of persons to sit in the commission to investigate the Petition filed by the residents of Makueni. From the outset, I want to reiterate what the previous speakers have said; that this process has put Makueni under great anxiety. Therefore, it would be in the interest of the people of Makueni that the Report of this Commission is presented to His Excellency the President and this Senate as quickly as possible. Murkomen is misleading the House because Article 217(4) says that:- “Within sixty days after the Senate’s resolution is referred under clause (3), the National Assembly may consider the resolution, and vote to approve it, with or without amendments, or reject it.” Article 217(5) reads:- “(5) If the National Assembly – (a) does not vote on the resolution within sixty days, the resolution shall be regarded as having been approved by the National Assembly without amendment; or (b) votes on the resolution, the resolution shall have been- (i) ... view

In the Statement, the Chairperson should:- (a) Avail the schedule of disbursement for Makueni County for the Financial Years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015. (b) State the total allocation for the Financial Years 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 and indicate what percentage of it was allocated to Makueni County.
