• 27 Jul 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we have allocated Kshs1,150,000 which we are sure, will finish the project. The area that has remained is 2.5 kilometres, two-inch diameter UPPC Class D pipes which will cost Kshs500,000. We will also complete 120 cubic metres masonry tank which will cost us Kshs200,000. We will construct a 150 cubic metres masonry tank which will cost us Kshs350,000. We have also allocated a miscellaneous amount of Kshs100,000 to make a total of Kshs1,150,000. The money will be provided in the current financial year. view

(a) Yes, I am aware that the Times News Services Limited is not only in the process of taking over the Kenya Times Media Trust Limited, but has already taken over. The proof of this fact is that, in May 2005, ten employees launched a complaint demanding their terminal benefits. The District Labour Officer, while investigating this case, visited the offices of the Kenya Times Media Trust and found out that the name had been changed to Times News Services Limited. Suffice it to say, the employees will appear before the Industrial Court and whatever the award, they will be paid their salaries and benefits promptly. view

The Labour Commission has given authority to the Provincial Labour Officer, Nairobi, to prosecute the employer immediately for failure to pay wages when due and non-payment of terminal benefits to the employees.
