  • 3 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in my view, the issues involved here are very grave. The Postmaster-General comes from my constituency. The Assistant Minister is very economical with the truth. He refuses to tell the House that the pre-payment contract was signed eight months before Mr. Odhiambo was appointed as the Postmaster-General. He also refuses to tell the House that before the contract was signed, an incompetent Board, purported to conduct a due diligence study which did not identify situational weakness of the project. The Board did not do a business plan and did not even identify the calibre of staff required. ... view

  • 3 Jun 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, we know that in recent times a number of Somali pirates who are alleged to have links with the Al Shabaab have been arrested and tried in Kenya. Could the Minister assure this country that these acts do not expose Kenya to possibilities of terrorist strikes? view

  • 27 May 2009 in National Assembly: Madam Temporary Deputy Speaker, listening to our Minister for Foreign Affairs and my understanding of his argument is that, he is trying to build a case for Uganda--- Is he in order to come here and try to build a case for Uganda, when the Ugandan President seems to equate every nilote in East Africa with Joseph Kony? view
  • 20 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the security of this country is a matter of great concern to all of us. As leaders from Nyanza we are very concerned that this Government does not seem to be taking the security of that province seriously. Even as the Assistant Minister comes here to assure us that he is taking care of security in that part of the world, is he aware that as we speak now, there are reports that Uganda security forces yesterday invaded parts of Mbita Constituency, arrested Kenyan fishermen, took away their fish and charged them money illegally? view
  • 19 May 2009 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I thought it was procedural, when a Minister is issuing a Ministerial Statement, to state who requested the Statement. view
  • 19 May 2009 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, we note that of the sports money being disbursed to constituencies, the Ministry retains about Kshs48 million. I would like to know whether MPs have any role in the way that money is spent, and whether she could explain the purpose for which that money is retained. view
  • 19 May 2009 in National Assembly: Secondly, from the experience that we have got from organizing these sports – I am sure that the Minister has received feedback – Kshs1 million is not enough to organize tournaments in the constituencies. I would want to know from the Minister what plans she has to increase this allocation, so that we can have effective tournaments in the constituents. view
