2 Aug 2016 in National Assembly:
I support, although I do not quite agree with the Chair of the Committee that the Senate should be doing editing work for the National Assembly. Some of the issues that are being highlighted here should be picked at the Committee stage. It is clearly known that the work of the Controller of Budget and Auditor-General are now quite distinct. We have moved past the error where they had been duplicated. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Hansard Editor.

These issues that are being picked out by the Senate tend to be matters which fall within the domain of editing. This puts emphasis that the Committee and even the National Assembly needs to do a better job.

It would have been nice for the House to debate and adopt that report before we embark on this other report. Once again, I would wish to call, through you Sir, that this report which we ...

Yes, the one on the special audit is in the Order Paper and I thank you. But it would be nice for us because if we start now looking at the Financial Year 2014/2015 before we get 2013/2014 out of the way, that would amount to a backlog.

28 Jul 2016 in National Assembly:
Hon. Speaker, I have no problem with that. Actually, it had been requested and it was in agreement. However, this morning we sat as Public Accounts Committee and we had requested the Members to be in the House specifically to debate the IEBC Report. I just wanted to know if that statement implies that it would be stood down so that those Members who have other businesses can leave the Chamber.
