1 Oct 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I thank her for the information, except to let her know that where I come from, payment of dowry is not purchase at all. It is the seal of approval of a marriage, especially if the dowry is done in the form of live animals.

1 Oct 2015 in National Assembly:
Yes, it is a seal of a covenant of marriage. Lastly, even as we embark on expanding justice to our people, let us also focus equally on alternative forms of dispute resolution. Sometimes, I think that Kenyans tend to be too litigious even in small issues that people can sit down and talk. Let us encourage a society which can talk with itself and deal with small issues. Sometimes, I see people slashing each other because someone claims another person has encroached about two or three metres into their land. If you ask them how much they have harvested in ...

30 Sep 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to start from the outset by saying that as a professional engineer, I cannot support this Bill in its current form. But before I say that, let me correct the misinformation that is being peddled by hon. Members here. I have heard a Member saying that the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) is selfish and arrogant. I think that is disheartening because it is dishonest to The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained ...

claim to be an expert on something you do not know anything about. If we are to progress, we have to respect professional bodies. Disrespect for professional bodies is what will give this country the Dr. Mugos who essentially are nothing but pathetic quacks and masqueraders. As Members debate, it is also important to get a background into the things that we say here. I have heard it said that this Bill will give people skills. How does an Act of Parliament or a Bill for that matter give people skills? Skills are found in training institutions. An Act of ...

27 Aug 2015 in National Assembly:
Thank you, Hon. Speaker. For the past one week, our beloved country Kenya has been and still remains on top of the world. Indeed, the whole world has been bowing to Kenya. Our gallant sons and daughters have proved yet again, in the most emphatic way possible and in the full view of the whole world, that in matters athletics we are, indeed, a hotbed of conquerors. I had requested to move a Motion for Adjournment to discuss this matter, but considering the uniqueness of today, you have allowed me to make a short statement on this matter. I hope ...

medals through Abel Kiprop in 1,500m (men), Caleb Mwangangi Indiku, Edwin Soy, Isaiah Koech among others in 5,000m (men) among several others. Because of Kenya’s trailblazing achievements in athletics on the international stage, it is possible to take these staggering achievements for granted. Most of us may remember that since Kenya first participated in the Olympics in 1968, we have to date bagged 25 gold medals, 32 silver medals and 85 bronze medals in the Olympics. It is important to draw a historical perspective to show how our young men and women have been achieving at the international stage. In ...

27 Aug 2015 in National Assembly:
How I wish and pray that this spirit of oneness that our athletes forced upon us can be our way of life, so that those of us who have been blessed by the Almighty God to hold exalted positions of leadership in Kenya can find it in our hearts every morning we wake up to gather the courage and energy to shout that “My tribe is Kenya”. I thank you for giving me the opportunity to make this statement, and to congratulate our men and women who have put our country in the world order as we hope for even ...
