  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I would also like to thank the Assistant Minister for a very comprehensive Statement. I heard him talk about the arms embargo that the United Nations (UN) has in place. However, he did not say what he is doing to have a government we formed using this country's resources the necessary ingredient of being armed. The ICU are well armed and are taking over the government. They are making it look as if we did not form an interim government for Somalia. What is he doing to have the embargo lifted, so that the people in ... view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I have been listening to details of the Report that has been tabled by the Minister. In the report, he implies that an inter-ministerial task force was constituted to visit various districts. Last year, I had asked a Question concerning the allowance, regarding two divisions in Bomet District. From the Report, Bomet is not mentioned. How come the inter-ministerial task force did not include Bomet District because we have two divisions that border Narok District, which is a beneficiary of the allowance, yet Bomet is not? That is why I had asked the ... view
  • 7 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, you will find that countrywide, this Ministry has not acted on sub-divisions of land, especially in areas like Kuresoi where today four people were killed. Could the Assistant Minister hasten the sub-division in areas where it has not been done in order to avoid deaths like those in Kuresoi and in other areas where people are living on land that has not been sub-divided? Could the Assistant Minister carry out the necessary sub-divisions countrywide, so that we can avoid this kind of loss of lives? Nobody knows exactly where they sit! view

  • 31 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, they love me! I am a regular user of this road. The Assistant Minister has said that some funds have been set aside for the reconstruction of this road. This road will connect with the Narok-Kaplong Road, which is brand new. I would like the Assistant Minister to tell us what is the axle load for this particular road. The Narok-Kaplong Road was meant for light trucks. Currently, trucks that are not supposed to be using this road are using it. When did the Ministry change the policy and decided to allow heavy trucks to use the ... view
  • 3 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Finance the following Question by Private Notice. (a) What entitlement has the Minister facilitated for the upkeep of H.E. the retired President pursuant to the Presidential Retirement Benefits Act of 2003? (b) Could the Government increase security for the retired President, in particular escort vehicles? view
  • 3 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, part "a" of the Question is very clear: What entitlement has the Minister facilitated to the former President? The Assistant Minister is, instead, telling us what the Act provides for. I was asking what exactly has been facilitated by the Ministry. As we are aware, some of the dues that the Act provides for to the former President, have not been provided for. One case in point is that the car that the former President was travelling when he was involved in that accident, was a personal car. Since according to the Act the former President is ... view
  • 3 Aug 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I asked this Question because I had the privilege to know whether those cars had been allocated to the former President. I can assure the Assistant Minister that the former President has not received the cars that he is claiming to have been given to him. That is why we are asking whether the Assistant Minister has fulfilled the requirements of the Act because I can tell you clearly that the former President has not received those cars that he is entitled to. The state that the former President is living in is not as is required ... view
