  • 1 Nov 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I also rise to support the Statement sought by my brother, Sen. • 1 Nov 2023 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity. This is an important Bill. It provides for legislation on a girl child who is in school. Sometimes, young girls get pregnant without much ado. They might be playing with their peers in the adolescent stage and without bad intentions, you find the girl is pregnant. view

  • 1 Nov 2023 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am referring to the general play of children when they interact in school and are of opposite sexes. These plays could be many and valid. They include some which can cause pregnancy. When these girls become pregnant, there is a stigma because there are parents who love their girls with so much love and emotion and believe in them. They do not expect their children to have involved themselves in such a game. You find some of the girls commit suicide because of the stigma and fear of the parent and the consequences.
