  • 29 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me an opportunity to add my voice to the issue on the regulations. I also echo the sentiments of the Chairman of the Committee on Delegated Legislation that we need regulations that will ensure that we go through very peaceful nominations and elections as well. However, I would like to mention something briefly concerning what Hon. Duale has said. I agree that at this time of campaigns, a lot of money is exchanging hands. It is, therefore, not unusual for a customer, who may be an aspirant, to walk into a bank ... view
  • 29 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: It is a pertinent issue just like the one Hon. Ochieng raised. view
  • 29 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: This affects Kenyans because we capped the interest rates charged by banks in this country which has not translated to lending to businessmen. Banks are using this to arm- twist customers by not approving loan applications. Their aim is to make the situation look as if the law is so tough that they cannot lend. This House needs to be aware of that. We also need an explanation from the Governor, CBK, why the lending rate is down and yet approvals for loans are still very low. I think it amounts to arm-twisting. view

  • 22 Mar 2017 in National Assembly: I, the undersigned, on behalf of employees of Chogoria Farmers Co-operative Society Ltd (in liquidation) in Tharaka Nithi County, draw the attention of the House to the following: (i) THAT, Chogoria Farmers’ Co-operative Society was registered as a co- operative society in 1986, under registration No.4594. (ii) THAT, the society consisted of eight coffee factories and had more than 3,000 registered members. (iii) THAT, in 1998, the society was put in liquidation and in October 1998, 122 employees were dismissed from service. (iv) THAT, these former employees were neither paid their salary arrears nor terminal benefits. (v) THAT, in March ... view
  • 14 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker for the opportunity and sorry for the system’s failure. view
  • 14 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: I also take this opportunity to add my voice and send condolences to the family of Boy Juma Boy. This brings to five Members of Parliament (MPs) including three Senators whom we have lost since the elections. It is a big blow to both Houses especially at this particular time The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. • 14 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: when we are approaching the elections. It is a pity that just a few months to the elections, the people of Matuga have lost their representative. view
  • 14 Feb 2017 in National Assembly: This is a man we have known for quite some time and especially those who have been following politics. The name “Boy Juma Boy” was very popular in the 1980s because he came to Parliament in 1984. Therefore, he was in politics for quite some time. I interacted with him and he was a person of humility. We have definitely lost a senior Member of the two Houses. I condole with the people of Matuga and Kwale County and pray to God that his soul rests in peace. May he grant them peace to come to terms with this reality. view
