  • 20 Aug 2024 in Senate: This particular statement confirmed that this is an illegality because it is against Article 10 of the Constitution. It is clearly discriminatory. What is your view about this and was this CFSP approved? view
  • 19 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I have two clarifications. The first is on the Petition No.5 by the members of the public to the Meru County The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate. view
  • 19 Aug 2024 in Senate: Assembly, which was filed on the 15th November, 2023. You note that this was just seven days after the last impeachment, which we had done on the 8thNovember, 2023. I would like to find out from the witness whether she finds this to be a bit sinister. This particular Petition was calling for the impeachment of various County Executive Committee Members (CECM) and Chief Officers (COs) by the County Assembly, and therefore, further, dismissal by the Governor. Was this a continuation of your effort to derail the County Government of Meru? Second issue; the witness confirmed to this House that ... view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for recognizing my new role as the Deputy Party Leader (DPL) of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM). I will speak as the Senator for Vihiga and not the DPL of ODM. The Motion is for us to either agree to a plenary or a committee. Whereas I fully agree with the Members who are saying we go the plenary way, there is a small problem. This is because, the outcome of a committee is usually a report. I have seen some reports from these committees and they go beyond the question of impeaching or not. ... view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in Senate: Our Standing Orders are limited because they do not allow us to produce a report, which can be sent to the President for action. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposesonly. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from the Director, Hansard and AudioServices, Senate. view
  • 14 Aug 2024 in Senate: I, therefore, urge Members because I know the plenary way is the most popular one, but the most effective one in these circumstances, is the committee way. I would like to ask Members to agree we support the committee way because it is going to help us deal with this problem of Meru, once and for all. I support. view
  • 7 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for this opportunity to welcome the students from Keveye Girls High School, which is one of the big girls’ schools in my county, Vihiga County. Just to stress for the interest of Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale and Sen. Sifuna, Keveye Girls High School is one kilometer away from the school where I went to, the famous Chavakali High School. We were closer to Keveye Girls in those days than Musingu High School that Sen. Sifuna is referring to. I welcome you and encourage you to work hard, so that you can come to this House and ... view
  • 7 Aug 2024 in Senate: I encourage you to work hard in school and become serious Senators like Sen. Asige who sits in this House as one of our Senators. Thank you for coming and welcome again. view
  • 7 Aug 2024 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for the opportunity to comment on the Statements. I want to comment on the Statement by Sen. Wafula of Bungoma County on the matter of pending bills, and also the Statement by Sen. Beth Syengo on the issue of capitation of vocational training centres. The greatest risk to devolution in this country is pending bills. I have sat in this House and almost on a weekly basis, I have heard my colleagues raising matters to do with pending bills in their counties. I have also done the same for my county, Vihiga County. However, even ... view
