There is also the issue of equalisation fund. It will be an opportunity for us to engage the public on the place of equalisation fund in this country and how well it should be managed and utilized. Equalisation fund was meant for those regions that are economically behind to catch up with the rest of the country. The engagement with the County of Turkana will improve the capacities of the County Assembly of Turkana. It will be for them to understand how legislative processes are run, the best practices in Parliament and their role as people who play primary oversight ...

Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, we can propose that for every session, we have one week where we sit outside Nairobi. Also, we should know the counties in advance, so that early preparations can be made. We can have more meaningful engagements when we go to those regions. With those many remarks, I support the Motion.

Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for this opportunity to contribute to this important Bill. I thank the sponsor of this Bill, Sen. Beth Syengo. She deserves commendation for this important initiative to try and improve the living standards of our people by providing a framework for production, marketing, farming, value addition and distribution of cotton in this country. We looked at the kind of machinery that is there and it is not difficult for Kenya to have such. We can have the same machinery to do value addition in Kenya and maximize our production of tea in this country. So, the Government must seriously think about the issue of value addition not only in tea, cotton, and sugarcane but in everything, value addition is critical. I am happy the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries is very passionate about Macadamia nuts. He is working very hard to ensure that value addition for Macadamia nuts ...

Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I wish to comment on the first Petition, which is a petition to request for the formation of a credit management institute, which will regulate credit management profession in the country. Whereas, I support the idea of having a professional organization, having a legislation around regulating a particular profession has to be done with a lot of care, so that we do not end up having so many legislations on regulation of professions when they can best be done under one big professional organization. Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, credit management has a lot of ...
